In a tunnel tent, two or more frame arches are positioned parallel to each other. The lightweights
appeal for the ease of erection, good ventilation and optimum utilisation of the floor
space. And because tunnel tents are very flexible to use, there's the right tent for practically
everyone in this category. Another advantage: you usually sleep lengthwise in a tunnel tent,
which is a great bonus when getting into and out of it at night.
Dome tents
With dome tents, the frames cross at one point. The tents are freestanding; the guy ropes are an
additional safety measure rather than the primary method of stabilisation. Dome tents can also
easily be moved from one place to another by one person. The ratio between space and weight is
slightly less than with a tunnel tent.
Geodats
A geodat is a special kind of dome tent in which at least three poles cross at several points.
Geodats are ideal for expeditions and trips where the utmost is demanded of the material –
because of their strong construction they are suitable for all terrains, and will withstand the
hardest conditions.
