Especially suitable for mountain tours are compact, free-standing dome tents: They should be lightweight and stable, with minimum packed size and simple to assemble and dismantle. The journal “Bergsteiger” declared TATONKA Mountain Dome Light to be a “versatile outdoor partner”. Thanks to its variable ventilation it performs a reliable service in particular on trekking tours and at moderate temperatures.
TATONKA dome tent Mountain Dome Light weighs only 3 kilos and its small size when packed means that there is space for it in almost every rucksack. The stress-free spaciousness provided by Mountain Light Dome after its uncomplicated assembly is provided by the Scandium tent poles and the outer tent material that despite it being lightweight is nevertheless extremely robust and wind and rain resistant. The outer tent is made of high quality nylon 6.6 Ripstop and is silicone-coated on both sides a total of five times; this guarantees its endurance and at the same time repels water convincingly through effective run-off.
TATONKA Mountain Light Dome achieved full marks in the “Bergsteiger” test for its spaciousness and the variable ventilation was also convincing. Assembly is easy but needs a little space; the packsack contains very stable tent pegs that provide reliable hold even in soft ground.
Which tent for which tour?
On a mountain tour the tent should be light and minimum size when packed. It is also important that the tent is free-standing, takes up only a small surface area and has a safe and stable bracing. When trekking the tent can be more spacious and correspondingly heavier. A free-standing tent with good ventilation qualities is especially suitable here. The perfect tent for expeditions even in difficult terrain should be very stable and able to be braced well. In difficult weather conditions it would be ideal if inner and outer tent are easily linked together so that the tent can be erected quickly and easily.
