Silberkar lake and Silberkar gorge

A hike full of contrasts and landscape highlights
The Silberkar lake hidden in a canyon like valley, the basin with the Silberkar hut and Silberkar gorge with its wooden steps and platforms are just as much among the amazing highlights of the hike as the Klammbach stream in front of the Klamm which arises from a gravel flow and the Schleier waterfall in front of the gorge.

To the highest situated hut of the Steiermark
The bright white chalk pedestal makes it easy to spot the Guttenberghaus above the Feisterkar, even in the region around Kulm and Ennstal.

Hiking path or climbing trail
The Scheichenspitze, the highest summit in the eastern Dachstein mountain range, may not look as attractive as its higher neighbours around the Hohe Dachstein, but the summit view to the east is extremely photogenic, and the Ramsau climbing trail which leads from the Edelgriess heights over the Schmiedstock offers the most comfortable access over the mountain station of the Dachstein rail – means ist attracts plenty of visitors.

The Krimml waterfalls, visited by several hundreds of thousands of people every year, have been awarded with the European Natural Protection Diploma.

To the oldest inn of Pinzgau
For more than 2000 years the Windbachtal has led through the Krimml
Achental and its forking as a connection from Pinzgau over the Alpine divide
to the South Tyrol. Celts and Romans, hemmers and shepherds, Jews, fleeing
troops and even some emperors used the crossing as a commercial or escape
route.

Wide paths to a hut in the middle of a natural setting
The Richter hut in the western group of the Hohe Tauern is right in the middle of a natural stage, behind which a glorious mountain backdrop reaches up to the sky. It seems to underline the exclusivity of its location with its wide access paths.

From Illmitz to » Hölle «

Through the conservation zone of the National Park to Stinkersee
To Hölle (hell) and back – this is possible in Seewinkel: past lakes, reeds and vineyards we walk from Illmitz to »Hölle « and the guest house of the same name located at the upper Stinkersee and along the terrain in front of the lake, on which a herd of half wild Przevalsky horses graze,through magnificent steppe landscape back to Illmitz.

Hiking in the oldest WWF nature reserve in Austria
As early as 1963 the last unspoilt Puszta areas in Austria around the »Lange Lacke« (Long Lake) were leased by the WWF and protected from destruction.The expanse of the lake – a unique bird paradise – varies from anywhere between almost 10 km and a tiny puddle.

In the most northern corner of the National Park
The »Zitzmannsdorfer Wiesen «, named after a place which was situated between Weiden and Podersdorf, which after the destruction by the Turkish was no longer built upon, are a valuable and protected wetland biotope and a first class bird paradise.
