What kind of guarantee does Tatonka give on its products?
TATONKA products are using best materials and only quality controlled goods are delivered without any exception. We offer a statutory warranty on material and workmanship. Normal expendable parts like straps and buckles can of course break over time and will not be replaced by us. Please return seriously damaged products to your specialist retailer and we will attempt to repair the damage as soon as possible. However, this claim does not apply if the damage was caused deliberately or is the result of inappropriate use.
But what if my product breaks anyway?
By definition, outdoor products spend lots of time outdoors, and therefore have to work hard. And if a product should be badly damaged, please take it to your retailer who will return it to us. If at all possible, we will repair the damage immediately and free of charge. We are sure you will understand that we are unable to provide this service free of charge if the damage was caused deliberately or is the result of inappropriate use. You can use our repair service for any Tatonka product – including tents.
What does the volume tell us about the product?
The figure that’s on there is what will fit inside. We measure our rucksacks, bags and so on in litres. Practically, using loosely filled granulate bags and sacks of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 litres – so the contents go right into the corners. This gives us very precise information about the actual volume, including outside pockets and lid compartments.
What bag do I need for my laptop?
We always give the inner dimensions of the laptop compartments in our bags and rucksacks. However, if you’re not sure whether the compartment is the right size, your retailer will be pleased to help you with a practical check. And you can also go to our website and download a list of the most popular notebooks and matching Tatonka bags – for mobiles, too. But we would ask you to bear in mind that because the electronics market is constantly changing, our lists may not always be absolutely up-to-date.

Can I wash a tent or rucksack in the washing-machine?
Please don’t. It may not finish them off, but it will finish off the guarantee. Clean your rucksack or bag with hand-warm water and washing-up liquid – ideally in the bath. There’s no need to waterproof it afterwards because the materials are coated. Hand-washing it with water and detergent will also get your tent nice and clean again. Allow it to dry thoroughly afterwards, and keep it in a clean, dark place to prevent mildew and smells from developing.

Rucksacks are a complex subject. So here’s the short version: 1. Switch your computer on, and 2. go to our website. There you will find detailed instructions as well as lots of useful rucksack information on e.g. packing, and an entire rucksack manual to download. Are Tatonka rucksacks waterproof?
They’re weatherproof, but not waterproof. Our packsacks are made entirely of materials with waterproof coatings. But with any stitched rucksack there is a risk of water penetrating the seams. It is not possible to guarantee that an item is absolutely waterproof. Not even if it’s made by Tatonka. Light or short showers aren't a problem, but if you’re expecting continuous rain or snow make sure you take a rain cover with you. These light nylon covers cover everything except the carrying system, so they will protect the whole bag and its contents against moisture. Our rain covers are available in different sizes and colours for all Tatonka rucksacks. In fact, the rain cover is included on lots of our designs – you’ll see from the little rain cloud symbol in the product lists.
