- OUR AID PROJECT FOR THE LAKOTA
We have teamed up with Tatanka Oyate e.V. to support a project initiated by Leonard Little Finger. Leonard is the great-great-grandson of Chief Big Foot and plays the main character in “The Last Chief”. He works as a teacher at the Loneman School in Oglala in South Dakota ’s Pine Ridge Reservation. He is also a founding member of the Lakota Language Consortium, which supplies thousands of pupils and students in 17 reservation schools with free textbooks for the Lakota language. We are helping them to print enough copies so that lots of children can learn their language again.
In early 2005, we completed another project in conjunction with the Society for Endangered Peoples in Allen in the Pine Ridge Reservation.
In a project initiated by the Lakota Sioux, we built a play area with a barefoot path to encourage sensory perception and a basketball field, as well as basic apparatus.
We also have other aid projects in the pipeline.
