Women's trekking backpack with large volume, high-performance X1 Carrying System Women and RECCO® reflector. With PFAS-free DWR finish.

Women’s trekking backpack Tatonka Yukon X1 65+10 Women for heavy loads with RECCO® reflector

The women’s backpack Tatonka Yukon X1 65+10 Women has a carrying system adapted to the female anatomy and designed for loads over 25 kilograms. This makes this backpack suitable for long trekking tours or extended backpacking trips with a lot of luggage. With the integrated RECCO® emergency reflector, the backpack also offers a useful safety feature.

Extremely efficient X1 women’s backpack carrying system

The internal, x-shaped construction transfers part of the load to the side of the padded hip belt and shifts the load from the back to the hips. The ergonomically shaped padding offers an excellent fit on the upper back, while the lumbar padding and the three-dimensionally shaped hip fins nestle comfortably against the hips and provide optimum support for efficient load transfer. This enables back-friendly carrying. The carrying system can also be adjusted to different back lengths.

Large zipper opening, extensive storage options, robust material

Thanks to the large opening into the main compartment, the backpack is particularly easy to load. Spacious side pockets, a lid compartment, a voluminous front pocket, zippered pockets on both hip fins and gear loops offer additional options for stowing equipment. The lid compartment can also be removed and attached to the shoulder straps as a practical kangaroo pouch. Made from very hard-wearing Cordura®, the Yukon X1 Women is robust and durable. The backpack has a PFC/PFAS-free DWR finish.

More safety on tours in the wilderness thanks to the RECCO® emergency reflector

We have attached a RECCO® reflector to the lid of our large trekking backpack, which offers wilderness enthusiasts a little extra safety. It enables rescue organisations to quickly locate missing persons in large areas and confusing terrain using the RECCO® helicopter detector. The reflector always works, requires neither electricity nor batteries and does not need to be maintained.

Choosing the right rucksack size depends on the type and duration of your adventure and the gear you’ll need. You should also select a backpack with a capacity that matches your height or back length.

At Tatonka, we distinguish between backpacks for outdoor activities, travel backpacks, and daypacks for everyday use. Trekking or touring backpacks can also be used as travel backpacks. While the recommended backpack size can vary greatly depending on the outdoor activity or the duration of the trip, when choosing a daypack for everyday use, you should primarily select one based on whether you like it—the size differences here aren’t very significant.

1. Hiking backpacks, touring rucksack, trekking rucksack

Day trips, mountain hikes, hut-to-hut tours, wilderness treks—there’s a suitable outdoor backpack for every type of hike. As a general rule, no matter what you’re planning: Pack only the gear you really need. Then you can focus on what matters most—your outdoor activity and enjoying nature.

The recommendations for the right backpack size are approximate guidelines based on experience. Body height, build, and fitness level are always important factors to consider, especially for multi-day hikes and trekking.

Backpacks for day hikes from spring to fall: 15–25 liters

For day hikes, a hiking backpack with a volume of 15 to 25 liters is a good choice. In the summer or on a half-day tour, a 10-liter backpack might even suffice. However, a 25-liter backpack is certainly more versatile, as you can also use it during the colder months when you need more gear (e.g., extra clothing).

If you’re a parent and need to carry gear for one or two children, a larger hiking backpack is recommended.

Backpacks for multi-day hikes and hut-to-hut tours: 30–45 liters

For multi-day hikes and hut-to-hut tours in the mountains with fixed overnight stays, large hiking backpacks with a volume of approximately 30 liters are suitable when you choose your gear wisely and pack efficiently. A touring backpack with a 40–50-liter capacity offers more storage space and, thanks to a carrying system adjustable to your back length with a padded hip belt, ensures good weight distribution and high comfort.

Rucksacks for trekking tours with a tent, stove, and food: 50–60 liters

For long-distance hiking with a full set of gear, you need a trekking rucksack with a volume of at least 50 liters. It can be adjusted to your back length, and the ergonomically padded carrying system transfers part of the load to your pelvis via the hip belt. But with a trekking rucksack, the rule applies more than ever: Pack only as much as necessary, because you’ll be carrying every kilogram of weight over long distances.

Rucksacks for winter trekking and expeditions: 70–90 Liters

For long-distance winter hikes, you’ll need to pack a lot of gear into your backpack. A large trekking rucksack with a capacity of about 80 liters is the right choice here.

In the table below, you can see which Tatonka hiking and trekking backpacks we recommend for which activities.

2. Travel rucksacks

The size of the travel rucksack you need naturally depends on the length of your trip. The more luggage you need to pack, the larger the backpack you’ll need to bring.

Backpacks for one- to three-day trips: 30–40 liters

A travel backpack with a volume of 30–40 liters is suitable for a short trip or a weekend getaway. It often meets carry-on size requirements, so you can check in quickly when flying.

Rucksacks for trips lasting one to two weeks: Approx. 50 liters

For trips lasting one to two weeks, a rucksack with a capacity of about 50 liters is the right choice. There are specialized travel rucksacks in this size with useful features. However, a hiking or trekking rucksack in this size is also a good choice.

Rucksacks for trips lasting several weeks: 60–80 liters

For trips lasting several weeks, a large travel backpack with a volume of 60–80 liters or a trekking backpack of the corresponding size is recommended. Exception: backpacking tours. If you’re a backpacker who sometimes covers long distances on foot, your backpack shouldn’t be larger than 60 liters, because a fully packed large rucksack isn’t something you can just “carry around casually.” You should also choose a trekking rucksack with a particularly high-performance carrying system.

3. What backpack size is best for women?

This varies greatly from person to person and depends largely on height and back length. Generally speaking, women should choose a backpack that feels comfortable and fits them well. That’s why there are special women’s backpacks in various categories that are designed to fit the female body.

Daypacks and hiking backpacks for women

Capacities ranging from 10 to 30 liters are available and depend on the planned activities.

Touring and trekking rucksacks for women

They shouldn’t exceed 60 liters. Petite women should opt for 40–50 liters. With hiking and trekking rucksacks, it’s crucial that the carrying system fits the body well and that the hip belt sits in the right place. That’s why women should generally choose a women’s backpack.

4. What size backpack is best for children?

This depends largely on the child’s age and, of course, changes as the child grows. As a general rule, a younger child should only carry a backpack if they want to. We explain how to find the right size in our separate guide: Children’s backpacks – How to find the Right size.

5. What backpack size is suitable for what body height?

This question primarily applies to hiking and trekking backpacks, which are quite heavy when fully packed and therefore need to fit properly. To be precise, when choosing the right backpack, it’s not your height but your back length that’s the decisive factor: The rucksack’s carrying system must be adjusted properly to ensure good weight distribution to the hip area.

If you want to buy a large backpack, it’s best to measure your back length first. We show you how to do this in the section “How do I determine my back length?” in our backpack tips. There you’ll also find a table where you can check which Tatonka backpacks are best suited for your back length. Please note that these values are intended as approximate guidelines.

To ensure that your trekking or touring backpack distributes the weight evenly and transfers some of the load to your pelvis, it should fit your size—more specifically, your back length. We’ll show you how to measure your back length, and you can use our chart to see which Tatonka backpacks are best suited to your back length.

Step by step – here’s how to do it

Find a partner who can take the measurement with a tape measure.

Use your hands to feel for your iliac crest—the upper tip of the hip bone—on both the right and left sides.

Ask your partner to imagine drawing a horizontal line on your back between your hands and to mark the lower measurement point on your spine, for example with a finger.

Bend your head forward and feel for the 7th cervical vertebra. It protrudes as a small bump. This forms the upper measurement point.

Your measurement partner will now measure the distance between the upper and lower points.

In the table below, you can see which Tatonka backpacks are right for you. The measurements are approximate guidelines. In our guide, you’ll also find an article on how to adjust your trekking or touring backpack to fit your back length perfectly.

A well-packed backpack makes every hike easier. Before you start packing, you should reduce your gear to the bare essentials to keep the weight as low as possible. Your shoulders and back will thank you for it. When packing a hiking or trekking backpack, it’s also especially important to distribute the weight evenly so the backpack doesn’t pull you backward while hiking on challenging terrain.

How much weight can I put in the backpack?

This table gives you an idea of how much gear you should pack in your backpack. However, especially on multi-day hikes, don’t overestimate your stamina or underestimate the weight of a fully packed backpack.

Tips for packing right

The following tips apply to packing any backpack, whether it’s a hiking backpack, a touring backpack, or a trekking backpack:

Pack only what you need, but don’t take anything you don’t need.

Use the external compression straps to secure the contents of the backpack even more securely. If the backpack isn’t fully loaded, use them to compress the pack. The goal is always to keep the backpack as close to your back as possible.

Make sure to place heavier items in the center of your backpack. This will prevent the weight of the backpack from pulling to one side.

Think about which items you need to access quickly and put them in the outside pockets, for example.:

Smartphone

First Aid kit

Sun glasses

Rain jacket, rain pants, rain poncho, backpack rain cover

Snacks

Drinking bottle

How to pack your trekking backpack properly

To move safely through the terrain with a large, fully packed trekking backpack, maintaining the correct center of gravity is essential. That’s why you should pack your trekking backpack so that it doesn’t throw you off balance or pull you backward while hiking. Here’s how to do it:

Place heavy gear (food, tent, cooking gear) close to your body.

Store medium-weight gear (clothing) in front of that.

Put smaller items (hat, gloves, toiletries bag) at the top of the backpack.

The lid compartment is ideal for your first-aid kit, sunglasses, and other items you want to access quickly.

The bottom compartment is reserved for your sleeping bag.

If there is a front pocket, you can use it to store rain gear, for example.

Important: Adjust the trekking backpack to fit your back length so that the hip belt sits centered on your hips. Only then will the carrying system transfer part of the load to your hips, relieving pressure on your shoulders and spine.

Tips for planning your trekking gear

When it comes to a trekking backpack, one rule applies more than with any other backpack: Take only what you need. A fully packed trekking backpack is heavy and not easy to carry. While Tatonka’s Yukon trekking backpacks are designed to carry up to 25 kilograms, that doesn’t mean you have to max out that weight capacity. Depending on your build, fitness level, and stamina, you should pack significantly less into your backpack. Even experienced trekkers do this, by the way—simply because it allows you to move more easily and safely.

Create a packing list for a longer trekking trip: Start by noting down the absolute essentials, then add anything else you’d like to bring.

Think about how much food you’ll need for each day. Freeze-dried trekking food can save a significant amount of weight.

Look specifically for tips from other hikers who have already completed the trek you’re planning. This will help you figure out what you absolutely must bring for this specific trek.

Do a test pack well in advance. This will show you whether your backpack has enough storage space. You can then take your time to decide what you might be able to leave behind.

If you’re hiking in a group: Divide the gear (e.g., tent, stove, food) among several backpacks.

How to make the most of your trekking backpack’s storage space

Use compression stuff sacks. This helps reduce the bulk of your clothing, tent flysheets, and sleeping bag. Stuff sacks also help keep your gear organized. Waterproof storage bags provide additional protection against moisture for the contents of your backpack..

Stuff the tent flysheet and sleeping bag into the compression stuff sack without folding them. This makes the best use of the available space.

Roll your clothes as tightly as possible.

Use small, stackable cooking sets.

Bring only the absolutely necessary hygiene and personal care products. Transfer them into small tins and containers.

Use biodegradable outdoor soap that is suitable for both personal hygiene and washing dishes and clothes.

Teen hiking backpacks: Adjustable carrying system

Tips for packing a Kid’s backpack

As a general rule, a kids’ backpack shouldn’t be packed too full. As a guideline, children shouldn’t carry more than 10% of their own body weight.

Children should only carry a backpack over long distances if they actually want to.

Outdoor equipment manufacturer Tatonka produces 100% with solar power

Since December 2024, Tatonka has been covering 100% of the electricity requirements at its in-house production facility Mountech Co.Ltd. in Binh Dinh with solar power and even feeds surplus electricity into the national grid.

Tatonka focuses on personal responsibility. The outdoor manufacturer not only produces all of its goods itself, but also its energy.

After Tatonka had already commissioned a 550 kWp photovoltaic system at its production facility in Binh Dinh in August 2023, which covered around 65% of its electricity requirements, this was expanded by a further 450 kWp in the second half of 2024. A total of 1,612 solar panels (828 previously +784 new) now supply an average of 5,200 kilowatt hours of energy per day – more than enough to cover the entire electricity requirements of production and even produce surpluses that are fed into the national grid. Due to the consistent solar radiation in the country close to the equator, the system can be used throughout the year with almost constant efficiency. This means that around 1,518,400 kg of harmful CO² emissions can be reduced each year compared to fossil fuel generation.

Both the construction of the first section of the photovoltaic system and its expansion were completely self-financed without subsidies. “It’s an investment that pays off ecologically and ultimately also economically – that’s the way it has to be if you want to run a healthy business,” says Andreas Schechinger, company owner and CEO of Tatonka. “The decision to expand the plant was made very quickly after we realized that it was working smoothly. “Schechinger once again emphasizes the advantages of “in-house” production: investments are made at the point where improvements are immediately achieved, which can also be communicated transparently.

A 65 kWp photovoltaic system was installed at Tatonka’s headquarters in Dasing near Augsburg 16 years ago.Since January 2008, 384 solar panels have been feeding CO²-neutral electricity into the German power grid – 1.147 megawatt hours to date.

For the wilderness or urban jungle: EDC Pack 30 BC – A backpack that makes no compromises

Bushcraft is far more than a hobby – it embodies a way of life. Bushcrafters are all about connecting with nature, using its resources responsibly and getting by with minimal equipment. They attach great importance to good preparation and well thought-out equipment. A reliable rucksack is a must. It transports tools and provisions safely and in an organized manner while withstanding the challenges of nature – whether in dense forest, on rocky terrain or in the rain.

But a bushcraft rucksack also offers great advantages for less adventurous hikers. Well thought-out compartments and a variety of fastening options create space for all important utensils. The robust material protects the contents, while the ergonomic design takes the strain off your back.

With a capacity of 30 liters, our EDC Pack 30 BC is the perfect size for day hikes. The durable Cordura material, its well thought-out carrying system and the modular fastening options make it the perfect all-rounder – for the forest as well as the urban jungle.

EDC Pack 30 BC

Our robust EDC Pack 30 BC daypack was specially developed for bushcraft fans. There is a 10 x 5 cm Velcro area on the front of the rucksack for attaching patches. The EDC Pack 30 BC is suitable for forest and wilderness tours as well as for everyday use (EDC means Everyday Carry).

The main compartment of the EDC Pack 30 BC can be pulled open completely to make loading easier. There are Velcro surfaces on the back and sides to which small pockets with hook and loop backing can be attached. This ensures that the inside of the rucksack is always clearly organized. We have developed the EDC organization set with four pockets and two hook-and-loop compression straps to fit this rucksack perfectly.

Thanks to the modular fastening system, the EDC Pack 30 BC can be equipped with additional pockets on the front and sides. The Tatonka Universal Pouches or pouches from other manufacturers with the MOLLE system can be used for this (MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment). And of course other equipment can also be attached here.

Robust and easy to clean – the new Barrel travel bag series from Tatonka

“Never change a winning team”. For this reason, we have given our barrels an update. New colors, more sustainable material, but the same proven look and functionality.

Traveling is a way of life and this is also expressed in the choice of luggage: Suitcases are appreciated by travelers who value clarity and convenience above all else and cannot or do not want to carry their luggage. Backpacks are suitable for adventurous travelers who want to keep their things close to them because they often don’t know what the next day will bring. And barrels are the perfect travel partner for globetrotters who appreciate a mix of both.

With their round shape and generous opening design, our barrels combine the clarity of a suitcase with the flexibility of a rucksack. With their detachable rucksack straps, they can also be carried on the back. Access to the luggage is effortless without having to rummage through narrow compartments. At the same time, the robust material provides reliable protection against the stresses and strains of traveling.

Our barrels come in the sizes 25, 45, 65, 85, 110 and 130 liters. So there is a suitable barrel for every travel period – from weekend trips to world tours. And if you are looking for a practical carry-on bag, the Tatonka Flight Barrel is the right choice.

Barrel 25 to 130

The Barrels from Tatonka score points as a sturdy travel bag with detachable backpack shoulder straps, made from hard-wearing and easy-care TPU-coated nylon material. The large zipper opening makes it easy to load the Barrel, while handles on all four sides, wide carrying handles and detachable backpack shoulder straps ensure easy handling. The Barrel has flat organizational pockets in the main compartment, a spacious zipped pocket on the front that is accessible from the outside and compression straps. Abrasion-resistant, PFAS-free material is used for the bottom of the rucksack bag. The base is padded to protect the contents.

When traveling, backpacking or on a hut tour, a good, comfortable rucksack or a practical travel bag is indispensable.
The new Pyrox from Tatonka – touring backpack for hut-to-hut hikes

Hut tours are little escapes from everyday life. Hiking for several days through imposing landscapes allows you to distance yourself from the daily stress and find inner peace. With a clear destination in mind, hikers enjoy the silence and beauty of nature with every single step. At the hut, things get louder and livelier again. But here too, the reduction to the essentials and the simplicity of the circumstances lead to a deceleration from everyday life.

Hut tours place significantly higher demands on your fitness and equipment than day hikes. The most important piece of equipment is the rucksack, as it is carried on the back over long distances and for many hours and days and should therefore fit well, not weigh too much and offer space for clothing, food, a hut sleeping bag and much more.

With the new Pyrox 45+10 and the women’s model Pyrox 40+10 Women, we have two backpacks at the start that fit every type of hiker like a glove thanks to their flexible back system, are lightweight and can be packed and unpacked quickly thanks to their front opening. They are also suitable for trekking and traveling.

Pyrox 45+10

The Pyrox 45+10 touring backpack is a real lightweight thanks to the materials used, but still scores points with its robustness and durability. The spacious backpack is just as perfect for hut tours and short trekking tours as it is as a travel backpack.

Thanks to our newly developed Frame Comfort Light carrying system, the Pyrox 45+10 can be optimally adjusted to your own back length. The system offers a wide range of adjustment options and is suitable for both short and long backs. The large ventilated area on the back ensures a comfortable fit on sweaty tours.

Extensive equipment details qualify this rucksack for a wide variety of tours, and a large front opening makes it easier to access your equipment. The Pyrox 45+10 has a PFC/PFAS-free impregnation.

Pyrox 40+10 Women

The Pyrox 40+10 Women was specially developed for female hikers. It is suitable as a lightweight, robust women’s backpack for hut tours and short trekking trips as well as for weekend tours or traveling.

Its Frame Comfort Light carrying system for women is tailored to the female physique in terms of back length and the shape of the shoulder straps and transfers the load very efficiently to the hip belt. The large ventilated area ensures comfortable carrying characteristics on movement-intensive tours. For an optimum fit, the system can be continuously adjusted to your own back length and offers a very wide range of back length variations.

The Pyrox 40+10 Women is characterized by extensive equipment details as well as the included rain cover, which ensures that the backpack and its contents are perfectly equipped for any weather. A large front opening provides quick access to equipment when you’re out and about. The backpack has a PFC/PFAS-free finish.

Bushcraft is booming. More and more people are enjoying this close-to-nature form of being outdoors. With our Pyrox 40+10 Women BC and Pyrox 45+10 BC bushcraft rucksacks and our Universal Pouches, you’ll be perfectly equipped.

Bushcraft is all the rage. Anyone who discovers bushcraft for themselves wants to live sustainably and in harmony with and from nature. This includes a return to traditional skills such as collecting wood and making fires, but also a thorough knowledge of nature in order to find edible plants or suitable places to sleep. Only the simplest tools, such as a knife or hatchet, may be taken into the wilderness. The aim is to make do with what you find and leave as few traces as possible.

The bushcraft lifestyle close to nature requires particularly hard-wearing and practical equipment. This is precisely why we designed the Pyrox BC. It is available as a unisex model with a volume of 45+10 liters and as a special women’s version with a capacity of 40+10 liters. If you are simply looking for a particularly robust trekking backpack, this is also a good choice. And with the universal pouches, both rucksacks can be individually equipped. These are available in different sizes.

New for the 2024 season is, for example, our Pyrox touring rucksack with our newly developed carrying system. We have also developed a specially equipped version of this rucksack for all bushcraft enthusiasts – and the matching small bags to go with it. Our hiking rucksacks in the Hike Pack line come in a fresh design and are supplemented by two women’s models. Further attractive innovations are also coming to the bag, accessories and stainless steel ranges. And we are adding two perfectly ventilated lightweight tents to our tent range. And, of course, we are also continuing to drive forward the ecological, sustainable conversion and expansion of our products: we will be increasing the number of GREEN-labeled and PFC/PFAS-free products again in 2024.

The bags are extremely hard-wearing thanks to the waterproof 3-layer X-Pac®RX 30 laminate. The certified material is recycled, which is why we have given the bags our GREEN label. They also have a PFC/PFAS-free finish.

Waterproof equipment in further sizes and additional versions

Further sizes of our waterproof flat bags with roll-top closure and transparent viewing window will also be added in 2024. All WP bags are now IPX7 tested.
Tatonka commissions 550 kWp photovoltaic system in Vietnam

Tatonka commissioned a 550 kWp photovoltaic system at its production facility in Binh Dinh in August 2023. The system with 828 solar panels supplies an average of 2300 kilowatt hours of energy per day.

The electricity generated is consumed immediately and covers around 65% of the daily requirements of the entire production facility. Due to the uniform solar radiation in the country close to the equator, the system can be used throughout the year with almost constant efficiency.

The project was completely self-financed without subsidies and the plant will pay for itself in around ten years. “It’s an investment that pays off ecologically and ultimately also economically – that’s the way it has to be if you want to run a healthy business,” says Andreas Schechinger, company owner and Managing Director of Tatonka. He once again emphasizes the advantages of manufacturing “in-house”: investments are made at the point where improvements are immediately achieved, which can also be communicated transparently.

A 65 kWp photovoltaic system was installed at Tatonka’s headquarters in Dasing near Augsburg, Germany 16 years ago. Since January 2008, 384 solar panels have been feeding CO²-neutral electricity into the German power grid – 1.067 megawatt hours to date.

Best Travel Buddy – everything on your back when traveling

The models in our Travel series are practical travel companions for trips lasting several days and can even make a sprint to the gate or platform. Those who undertake shorter trips, such as city breaks, usually travel light. A travel backpack often proves more practical than a suitcase, because it distributes the load comfortably on the back and allows for faster boarding and disembarking and, in the event of a delay, a sprint to the platform or gate. Many airlines accept travel backpacks up to a certain size as carry-on luggage, which saves costs and effort, especially for spontaneous low-budget trips.

With the Traveller Pack 25 and 35 and the Duffle Bag 45 and 65 we offer the ideal companions for trips of several days to one week. And not only for that. With its handy size and fashionable daypack look, the Traveller Pack can also be used as a practical daypack for everyday use. The Duffle Bag, on the other hand, can be folded up practically small when not in use and stowed in its own lid pocket.

If you are on the trip for a longer period of time, you will need more storage space. Here, either trolleys or large travel backpacks are used. But why not both? Our Duffle Roller offers with 105 or 140 liters enough space for the entire luggage, due to the built-in wheels the frameless bag can be pulled like a trolley and thanks to the stowable shoulder straps it can be carried like a backpack. All products from the Travel series are made of PFC-free material in an attractive melange look, which is water and dirt repellent, and now available in the new fiery color tango red.

Traveller Pack 25

The Tatonka Traveller Pack is not only extremely practical, but also a real eye-catcher with its daypack look. It is much too beautiful and versatile to use it only on vacation. It also cuts an excellent figure in everyday life or in the office.

The Traveller Pack 25 comes as a courier backpack with a roll top and with its 25 liter volume is the ideal size for short trips, but also as an office or university backpack. The shoulder straps of this top-loader can be unhooked with a handle and stowed in the back pocket, for example, to put it under the seat on the plane without resistance. The padded laptop compartment is accessible from the outside via a zipper, and the Traveller Pack 25 is also equipped with a side pocket and a flat, padded front pocket.

Traveller Pack 35

With its 35 liters of volume, the Tatonka Traveller Pack 35 offers enough storage space for multi-day trips or, for example, the weekly shopping in everyday life.

Its two main compartments with all-around zipper allow you to organize your luggage perfectly. The rear compartment is lined with hook-and-loop panels that allow for the attachment of small organizational pockets with hook-and-loop backing. The front main compartment has an organizer with slip pockets and a key holder, and the Traveller Pack 35 also has two flat zippered front pockets. The extra laptop compartment for a 17-inch laptop is accessible from the outside.

The backpack straps can be stowed in a flat slip-in pocket on the back so that nothing can get caught when placed in luggage compartments. As a clever additional option, the travel backpack offers a removable hip belt with a zippered pocket. This can be used for cell phone, wallet and IDs and worn on tour or sightseeing as a fanny pack or sling bag.

Duffle Bag 45 / 65

The Duffle Bag comes in two sizes – with 45 liters and 65 liters volume. This practical and flexible travel bag, which can also be worn on the back with its integrated backpack shoulder straps, is perfect for multi-day (45 l) to week-long trips (65 l). The shoulder straps can be stowed in the front pocket, and the entire bag fits in its own lid compartment when folded. Handy handles on the lid and side offer further carrying options.

The main compartment can be opened wide for packing via a wrap-around zipper with lockable zipper slider. In addition to mesh pockets for accessories, two compression straps keep luggage in place. The outer compression straps allow the whole bag to be tied down tightly.

Duffle Roller 105 / 140

The Duffle Roller also comes in two sizes. With 105 liters and 140 liters of volume, the roller bags offer enough storage space for several weeks of (long-distance) travel. In addition to several handles, a large zipper opening and a mesh pocket inside, the Duffle Roller is equipped with lockable zipper sliders. Another special feature – besides the large amount of space – is the possibility to store the frameless trolley in its own lid pocket when not in use. So it can be stored away in your own home to save space.

This year we again present numerous new products for camping, hiking and travel. Our hiking and trekking backpacks stand out with harmoniously coordinated color tones and are real eye-catchers on every tour. We are also expanding our outdoor and travel range with waterproof welded accessories. For all those who are on the road with a campervan, we offer two practical canopies. In addition, our stainless steel range receives one or two new additions.

Minimizing the ecological footprint remains a central task

In 2023, the ecologically sustainable conversion and expansion of our product collection remains a central task. This season, for example, all recycled materials are additionally PFC-free. In addition, the specification of various existing fabrics will also be changed accordingly, so that the Barrel series, for example, will now be offered PFC-free.

Hiking backpacks in attractive colors and modern design

The sporty Storm RECCO toploader brings a breath of fresh air to Tatonka’s hiking backpack collection with a revised design and finely coordinated tone-on-tone color scheme. It still scores with the X Vent Zero carrying system, which is rated as “top ventilated” in the market, and integrated RECCO emergency reflector. The new Storm RECCO comes as a women’s backpack in two sizes and as a unisex backpack in three sizes, and it has a PFC-free finish. The Hike Pack series with comfort-oriented Frame Vent carrying system is also presented in the harmonious color scheme. The backpacks feature the GREEN label as well as PFC-free finishes.

Welded travel accessories

Waterproof flat bags with roll closure or water-repellent zipper, each with transparent viewing window, are offered in two or three different sizes. The pouches have a PFC-free finish.

Hobo Burner & Co

Tatonka complements its stainless steel range: the Hobo Burner, which can be dismantled flat, can be operated with any solid fuel and is therefore particularly suitable for bushcraft fans. The Pot Set for Gas Cartridge 450 + Burner is a space-saving cooking set for use with a gas stove. The tall cup with 1.5 liter volume holds a standard gas cartridge (11 cm diameter, 450 g) and a burner during transport, the lid closes snugly and can be used as an eating bowl can be used. The robust, heat-resistant Woodfibre Cutting Board made of wood fiber laminate has a diameter of 15 or 18 cm and can be stowed in many cooking sets from Tatonka. Also newly introduced are the space-saving outdoor cutlery sets Cutlery Set I and Cutlery Set II.

Practical canopies for camping vans

The Van Tarp TC made of tear-resistant cotton blend fabric (ideal as a sun awning) and the Van Tarp made of PU-coated polyester have an adaptable keder attachment for buses of various brands. For setting up the tarp poles from Tatonka are suitable.

Thanks to the slightly roughened inside, it is pleasantly warm and can also be used as a midlayer under a three-layer jacket.
Skill 22 RECCO – Our lightweight hiking backpack for challenging day trips

Especially on challenging day hikes in the mountains, every gram of weight that weighs down the hiker during the ascent and descent counts. All the more pleasant when the backpack itself weighs next to nothing. At just 780 grams, our Skill 22 RECCO is a real featherweight – without sacrificing an intelligently ventilated back system and other extras like a hiking pole holder or hydration system preparation. Plus: The integrated RECCO® emergency reflector ensures safety on the mountain.

Whether ambitious summit tour or relaxed pleasure hike – the heavier the backpack, the longer the way. However, it does not go completely without luggage. This is where our Skill 22 RECCO comes into play. He weighs so little that really only the weight of its contents counts. With 22 liters, it offers enough storage space for all necessary things such as drinks, provisions, a light jacket, sunscreen and a first aid kit.

For an optimally ventilated back, we rely on our X Vent Zero carrying system for the Skill 22 RECCO. With this innovative carrying system, only the tightly tensioned mesh straps rest on the back and allow the air to ventilate in the space between them. This allows the moisture produced on strenuous tours to evaporate optimally, and the clothing is not sweated through. The backpack is fixed precisely to the back with the help of the padded, ventilated shoulder straps, the ventilated hip belt and the adjustable chest strap.

Despite its low weight, the Skill 22 RECCO does not do without important, well thought-out extras: its hiking pole holder is just as practical for sporty tours as the insertion compartment for a hydration bladder including fixation and outlet opening for the drinking tube. The lid compartment and the side pockets allow a sensible placement of the equipment and offer quick access to the most important things on the road. The RECCO® reflector attached to the backpack ensures greater safety. In an emergency, it allows for quick location by helicopter detector. In terms of color, the Skill also sets accents and is available in black as well as in a bright red-orange.

City Tramp 22 – Functional and sustainable everyday companion for city and countryside

Our new City Tramp 22 is the ideal all-rounder for all activities in everyday life and leisure. The practical and stylish all-rounder offers not only enough storage space, but also with its intelligent carrying system a pleasant back ventilation and a comfortable carrying feeling. “Green” for the environment: The City Tramp 22 is made of the sustainable blended fabric reTex Kapok, which consists of the natural fiber Kapok and recycled polyester.

Whether on the way to university or work, grocery shopping, hiking with friends or the spontaneous city trip – the Tatonka City Tramp 22 does it all. With its 22 liters of volume, the weekly shopping, a few clothes for a weekend trip or the hiking snacks easily find space in it. Drinking bottles can always be stowed within easy reach in the two side pockets.

Ventilated back thanks to the Frame Vent carrying system

Thanks to its Frame Vent carrying system, even on longer hiking tours in the summer heat, the sporty daypack does not immediately cause sweat to pour out. The tightly stretched mesh back provides distance between shirt and backpack and allows air to circulate in the back area. The result: the back stays dry, sweaty shirts are a thing of the past. No chafing, no risk of chilling, just a comfortable feeling all day long.

Sustainability guarantee: The label GREEN by Tatonka

The City Tramp 22 is made of the sustainable blended fabric reTex Kapok, which is composed of 20 percent natural fiber Kapok and 80 percent recycled polyester. But not only the outer material contains recycled polyester and kapok, the lining fabric as well as webbing, zippers and buckles are also proportionally recycled. The outer material also has a PFC-free finish. The backpack therefore carries our label GREEN by Tatonka. With this label, we mark products in which we use sustainable, environmentally friendly and resource-saving materials.

Pretty and practical – what more could you want?

With its attractive design variants in Black, Navy Curve and Brown Rice Curve, our City Tramp 22 offers the right model for every taste. The robust toploader has a lid with lid compartment and zipper, elastic side pockets made of mesh material, a slip-in pocket on the front, for example for a bike helmet or jacket, side compression straps and a hiking pole holder on both sides.

Its light weight and ample storage space for all kinds of day trips make the City Tramp 22 a true versatility champion. He makes city hopping just as reliably with as mountain hikes.

We are convinced that transparency is part of our social responsibility. That is why it is now possible to trace the entire manufacturing and transport route of our products!

On our new Traceability website, it is now possible to trace the path of all Tatonka products from the purchase of materials to production and shipping to the country of destination, using the serial/batch number. We show which materials come from which suppliers, when and how the product was sewn, and which transport routes and types of transport were used until the finished product reached its destination. The transport routes and modes, as well as other information, are clearly visualized on a world map after entering the serial/batch number. We also explain which standards our material suppliers meet within the supply chain.

Due to our own production, we have access to all information concerning the manufacturing process. From material purchasing to transport, we collect and manage all data ourselves and use it to make the supply chain for each Tatonka product clearly visible. Click here to go to the website Traceability by Tatonka!

Flight or spontaneous city trip by bus and train? As soon as the situation allows it again, we all burn to explore the world and discover new places. Depending on where we’re going and how long the trip will last, the question arises: How much luggage do we need to take with us? With us, you’ll find the right piece of luggage for all types of travel – for example, with the spacious Duffle Roller 105 and the practical Traveller Pack 35.

Trolley or backpack? Both! The Tatonka Duffle Roller 105

A big trip means a lot of luggage. With the Duffle Roller 105, we offer a foldable roller bag for long-distance and air travel that is guaranteed to fit everything. Four more unbeatable arguments: the attractive look, the textile feel, the comfortable handling and the PFC-free treated main material.

Thanks to the backpack shoulder straps, the large bag can not only be pulled like a trolley, but also carried on the back. The shoulder straps can be quickly and easily stowed when not in use, so they won’t get in the way or damaged in the airplane cargo hold. A large opening into the main compartment makes packing easy, while compression straps secure luggage and keep the interior tidy. The zippers can be secured against theft with a lock. For the time between two trips, the Duffle Roller can be stored in the separate lid compartment small. Thus, the large travel bag hardly takes up space in the closet or basement. For the really big adventures, there is also a variant with 140 liters of storage space.

Extensive features and PFC-free equipment: The Tatonka Traveller Pack 35

On shorter trips, a spacious backpack like the Traveller Pack 35 is particularly practical. Our carry-on travel daypack is perfect for taking on the plane – of course, it’s just as good for train or bus travel. It is made of the same textile material as the Duffle Roller and scores with a chic look. In addition, the backpack is robust, easy to clean and of course also PFC-free.

In its two main compartments, the luggage can be perfectly organized, especially since the rear compartment is lined with Velcro. They allow the attachment of small organizational pockets with hook and loop back. The main front compartment has an organizer with slip pockets and a key holder, and the Traveller Pack 35 also has two flat zippered front pockets.

This can be used on city trips as well as on excursions as a fanny pack or sling bag.

Flooding in central Vietnam: Tatonka supports damaged employees with 30,000 euro donation

At the end of November 2021, seasonal heavy rainfall occurred in central Vietnam. The Tatonka production facility Mountech Co. Ltd. was only slightly affected, but throughout the surrounding area, especially in Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces, about 60,000 houses were under up to two meters of water. Numerous residential buildings in the city of An Nhon, where many Mountech Co. Ltd. employees live, were also severely affected. Tatonka CEO and owner Andreas Schechinger spontaneously supported the company employees in need with a donation of 30,000 euros. The money was handed over to the affected employees during the company’s internal Christmas party.

In Binh Dinh Province, heavy rains always occur at the end of the rainy season (November/December), which in combination with the ocean tides always lead to natural flooding in the river delta.

In 2013 and 2016, when the spillways of the reservoirs built from 2007 onwards were additionally opened for hydropower plants in the hinterland, major man-made floods occurred for the first time. At the time, this also affected the Tatonka production facility in An Nhon, which caused significant damage twice and thus led to production losses. In 2018, work began on raising the factory buildings by 1.5 meters to provide more efficient protection against future flooding. Since 2020, the structural measures have been completed.

Winter is here! We were also already happy about the first snow. With our warm, sustainable women’s coats from the Stir series, we provide the right clothing for winter walks and everyday life. A wool padding provides the necessary insulation against the cold, a recycled, PFC-free impregnated outer material keeps wind and weather out.

A walk in the snowy winter wonderland, skating on the lake or the everyday walk through the city: there are many reasons to go out into the fresh air even in winter. A warm coat like the Stir Ws Hooded Coat or the Stir Ws 3in1 Coat should not be missing – it keeps the icy cold away and also protects against moisture and wind.

Sustainable wool insulation and recycled outer material

To insulate well against the winter cold, the Stir women’s coats use sustainable padding made of sheep’s wool. The natural material is combined with polyactide, a fiber derived from corn. The padding is free of harmful substances, recyclable and biodegradable. While the wool provides insulation against cold, the outer material with waterproof and breathable membrane reliably protects against wind and weather. Both the outer material (100%), as well as the membrane (75%) and the lining (37%) are made entirely or proportionally from recycled polyester. The women’s coats also have a PFC-free finish – like our entire textile collection.

Stir Ws Hooded Coat: Attractive women’s winter coat made from environmentally friendly materials

With its slightly tailored cut, the Stir Ws Hooded Coat cuts a fine figure both in the city and on a winter walk in nature. Pleasant feel-good extras are the soft pocket lining and the soft chin guard. Small items for on the go can easily be stored in the pockets or in the inside pocket, a hood provides even better weather protection.

Stir Ws 3in1 Coat: Sustainable all-season coat with three wearing options

Versatile and usable all year round, the Stir Ws 3in1 Coat offers various wearing options: In low temperatures, it is used as a lined winter coat. In spring and fall, the inner coat is removed and the outer jacket can be worn as a chic raincoat with a waterproof and breathable membrane. The hip-length, padded inner coat can also be worn separately.

Hike lightly and safely with the new Skill 22 Recco

Experience the lightness of hiking – with our new Skill 22 Recco. Our new hiking backpack scores with its minimal weight of only 780 grams. Nevertheless, it does not do without a well-ventilated back system and other extras such as a hiking pole holder or hydration system preparation. This makes this backpack the ideal companion on sporty day trips. The integrated Recco emergency reflector ensures extra safety.

The lighter the backpack, the more pleasant the hike! Especially on day hikes, it pays not to have quite so much weight on your back – this saves energy, is easy on the body and ensures more rest on the way. With the new Skill 22 Recco we present a particularly lightweight daypack for mountain hiking, which offers enough space for the most important things: a light rain jacket, a snack and a first aid kit should never be missing, after all. 780 grams weighs the “little brother” of the well-known Skill 30 Recco – and does not do without some useful features.

Our proven X Vent Zero carrying system ensures a well-ventilated back on the Skill 22 Recco. With this system we deliberately do without a mesh back, only two straps rest on the back. The backpack is fixed precisely to the back with the help of the padded, ventilated shoulder straps, the ventilated hip belt and the adjustable chest strap.

Even with its light weight, the Skill 22 Recco does not do without important, well thought-out extras: its hiking pole fixation is just as practical for sportier tours as the insertion compartment for a hydration bladder including fixation and outlet opening for the drinking tube. The lid compartment and the side pockets allow a sensible placement of the equipment and offer quick access to the most important things on the road. The Recco reflector attached to the backpack provides extra safety. It allows rescue organizations to quickly locate you by helicopter detector in an emergency. In terms of color, the Skill also sets accents and is available in black as well as in an eye-catching red orange.

Overnight With Added Comfort

Gargia 2/ 3 and Rokua 2/ 3 are the new additions to the Tatonka tent range. The lightweight tunnel tent models focus on useful comfort features that are not found elsewhere. Zippered access points on both narrow sides provide perfect ventilation and drying options, and an extra-long lounger length offers generous space even for tall people. Gargia has an apsis on one side, Rokua has apses on both sides.
