Dirk Rohrbach: Passionate traveler, collector of world tales
Travel editor and photographer Dirk Rohrbach realizes remarkable projects in North America and brings them closer to the general public as word tales, in the form of life reports, movies and books. He has a longstanding partnership with Tatonka – almost from the first hour on.
Thousands of miles on “the big river“: In the summer of last year, Dirk Rohrbach followed the Yukon river by canoe to its mouth at the Bering Sea, already for the third time.
In autumn, one of his destinations was the spectacular Buffalo Round Up in the Custer State Park in South Dakota. During the arctic winter, he took care of a friend’s house and dogs, near the little village of Eagle in Alaska.
Dirk Rohrbach is cofounder of the Tatanka Oyate society (this means buffalo nation in the language of the Lakota Sioux), which has set itself the task to support the Lakota Sioux receiving their language and culture. Tatonka has promoted this project since 2003 and Dirk Rohrbach has been a member of the Tatonka family every since. As a skillful tour guide, he leaded the Tatonka team along the famous Chilcoot Trail, in January of 2013.
