Summer in the saddle – relaxed or fast
Leisurely does not mean boring: The Altmühl Cycle Route
For those who prefer to ride more slowly and relaxed, a cycle tour along the Altmühl is ideal. The route is more than 250 kilometers long past impressive Jura landscapes, picturesque river meadows and wonderful natural scenery together with many points of cultural interest: Castles and villages along the route invite you to step back in time. The heritage of the eventful history of the regions can also be seen in the Roman forts which have been reconstructed along the course of the Limes. An exciting journey back in time can also be had in the Archeology Park Altmühltal, where visitors can enjoy exhibits from many different eras including life in the Stone Age and Celtic ritual sacrifices.
The Altmühl Cycle Route is a very special experience for the whole family; and when your legs get tired from all the cycling, then you can treat yourself to a super refreshing break: for example a tour by rowing boat or a relaxing picnic on the banks of the river with tasty regional delicacies. Part of the Altmühl Cycle Route can also be undertaken directly on the waters of the Main-Danube Canal.
