Fair and Transparent Production at the Own Factory in Vietnam

Tatonka manufactures its products in accordance with European standards at its own factories in Vietnam. Production takes place in compliance with high social standards at SA8000-certified facilities. Mountech Co. Ltd. operates two production sites, located in Ho Chi Minh City and in An Nhon in Gia Lai Province. Tatonka launched the Open Factory program in 2011. Transparent Supply Chain

Tatonka’s traceability system enables end-to-end traceability of purchased Tatonka brand products. Buyers use Tatonka’s online tool Traceability by Tatonka to transparently track the entire production process of a product. Tatonka manufactures its products fairly and responsibly – SA8000 certification renewed for another three years

Since 2011, we have had our company-owned factories in Vietnam certified under the SA8000 social standard to document our long-standing commitment to social responsibility. The manufacturing facilities in Ho Chi Minh City and Gia Lai Province (formerly Binh Dinh) once again meet all SA8000 requirements. The audit by TÜV Rheinland took place in June 2026, and the certificate is valid for another three years.

The SA8000 social standard was established in 1997 by the nonprofit organization SAI (Social Accountability International), based in New York, and enables companies with their own manufacturing operations, in particular, to demonstrate social responsibility.

The SA8000 standard prohibits child labor and forced labor, discrimination of any kind, and the use of disciplinary measures. It also requires companies to comply with strict occupational safety and health guidelines and stipulates maximum working hours and minimum wages. It further requires companies to allow for employee meetings and collective bargaining. In addition, it mandates the implementation of a management system. All of these measures are implemented and monitored independently by the employees.

Social responsibility as a core principle – the history of Tatonka

We are one of the very few companies in the outdoor industry that develops and manufactures our own products. Our development department is based at our headquarters in Dasing, near Augsburg, while prototype production and manufacturing take place at two of our own plants in Vietnam. The coordination of all processes—including material procurement, prototype development, scheduling, and so on—is carried out through close, daily collaboration between our employees in Germany and Vietnam.

Founded in 1989, Mountech Co. Ltd. currently operates manufacturing facilities at two locations: in Ho Chi Minh City and in the city of An Nhon in Gia Lai Province (formerly Binh Dinh), about 650 km north of Ho Chi Minh City.

From the very beginning, Tatonka established European manufacturing standards at Mountech in order to produce high-quality products. This meant providing appropriate training to local employees and creating the conditions necessary for close collaboration. Social responsibility toward employees – in Germany and in Vietnam – is therefore a central component of the corporate philosophy of the family-owned company Tatonka.

OPEN FACTORY – transparent production

In addition to obtaining SA8000 social standard certification, we also launched the OPEN FACTORY program in 2011 to enable interested members of the public to experience the manufacturing of our products firsthand and form their own opinions about working conditions.

Every Friday, there is a guided tour of the Mountech factory in Ho Chi Minh City. Those interested can register for a visit on the website openfactory.tatonka.com. Afterward, they can share their impressions on the website. Hangtags on all Tatonka products provide information about the program – unique in the outdoor industry – which is used by visitors and visitor groups from all over the world.

Traceability by Tatonka – transparent supply chain

Since 2022, consumers have been able to use the website Traceability by Tatonka to track the journey of a purchased Tatonka product—from the procurement of materials through production to shipment to the destination country. After entering the product’s serial/batch number, users can access detailed information about material manufacturers as well as the complete supply chain. All Tatonka products manufactured since 2016 are available for viewing in this way.

Thanks to the large zipper opening into the main compartment, the Duffle Bag 45 and Duffle Bag 65 are easy to pack, and compression straps secure the contents. The main compartment also features two flat, zippered mesh pockets. Additionally, the duffle bag is equipped with a lid pocket. Handles on three sides offer various carrying options, and the stowable backpack shoulder straps allow it to be carried on the back as well. For relaxed hut-to-hut hikes: Our Norix and Pyrox hiking backpacks

With the arrival of the first stable high-pressure systems, the season for hut-to-hut and multi-day hikes begins. Spending extended periods on the trail—stripped down to the essentials—requires more than just good physical conditioning and a desire for panoramic views. Route selection, weather windows, and realistic daily stages are just as crucial as a well-thought-out packing plan. Whatever you carry on your back for many kilometers of elevation gain must be lightweight, functional, and reliable—from weather gear to a change of clothes, a hut sleeping bag, and a small emergency kit. Provisions, water, and maps also need their own space. The backpack thus becomes the tour’s silent command center: It plays a key role in determining comfort, safety, and, consequently, how carefree the journey from hut to hut feels.

The Norix 31 Women and Norix 34, as well as the Pyrox 40+10 Women and Pyrox 45+10, make it easy to access your gear while on the go and are comfortable to carry on your back even on longer hikes.

The updated Norix is an ideal all-around hiking companion; thanks to its 31- or 34-liter capacity, it’s also well-suited for hut-to-hut hikes and offers practical features for via ferrata routes. Its Vent Comfort carrying system fits snugly against the back, ensuring the backpack doesn’t wobble back and forth even during mountain hikes in challenging, high-alpine terrain. The excellent load control is also a major advantage on via ferrata routes. The ergonomic back padding, with its ventilation channel and breathable AirMesh cover, ensures comfortable airflow. On the Norix 31 Women, the shoulder straps are specially adapted to the female anatomy.

The main compartment of this hiking backpack can be loaded not only from the top but also by fully unzipping the back panel. This way, all your gear is quickly within reach. In addition, the Norix features elastic front and side pockets, a lid compartment, gear loops on the front, and an elastic spider net on the lid for storing gear.

The Norix’s hip belt can be removed to prevent chafing when putting on a climbing harness. The large gear loops on the shoulder and hip belts are designed to hold the carabiners of a via ferrata set when navigating sections without protection. The Norix also features a helmet attachment on the front. Hydration system compatibility, a trekking pole holder, and a rain cover stowed in the bottom compartment round out the features.

The Frame Comfort Light carrying system (Women) allows the hiking backpack to be optimally adjusted to your back length, while efficiently distributing the load to the hip belt. In the women’s version, the back length and the shape of the shoulder straps are tailored to the female physique. The system offers a wide range of adjustment options and is suitable for both short and long backs. The large, ventilated area on the back ensures comfortable wear during strenuous hikes.

Time for a new adventure: Well-designed tent structures for every situation

Camping is a conscious choice to be outdoors—and therefore always a choice to have the right gear. A good tent must reliably meet a wide range of requirements. On trekking trips, weight, pack size, and design logic take center stage: poles that remain stable even in windy conditions, materials with specific water column ratings, and a design that stays manageable even in bad weather. Just as important are details such as clearly separated inner and outer tents to reduce condensation, or vestibules for storing gear that—if large enough—also allow you to cook in the rain. At campsites, the priorities are different: here, what matters is usable space, ventilation solutions for warm nights, multiple entrances, and a sense of spaciousness that remains comfortable even during longer stays.

Not every tent can do everything—but good tents offer a wide range of uses. Tatonka’s Kyrkja LT, Rokua 2, and Alaska 3.235 PU tunnel tents were designed to handle the challenges of both backpacking and camping.

Kyrkja LT

The Kyrkja LT tunnel tent is Tatonka’s lightest one-person tent: Its outer tent is made of silicone-coated Nylon 6.6 ripstop fabric with a thread count of just 20 denier, and the inner tent is made entirely of mesh. The waterproof tent floor is made of PU-coated nylon with a water column rating of 10,000 mm and provides optimal protection against moisture from below.

Thanks to its design featuring one large and one small pole arch—which enlarges the rear section—the Kyrkja LT offers ample headroom even for taller individuals. The tent has a side entrance with a small vestibule for gear.

The inner and outer tents are attached to each other, so this one-person tent can be set up in no time. The inner tent can also be detached, for example when taking it down in the rain. The next time you set it up, you’ll first put up the outer tent and then hang the dry inner tent inside it.

Thanks to its small pack size, the Kyrkja LT is also ideal for bikepacking.

Rokua 2

The Tatonka Rokua 2 is a weight-optimized two-person tunnel tent with plenty of space and ample storage.

The two-person tent is set up using three poles and features entrances with vestibules on both sides. This provides ample storage space. The inner tent—also accessible from both sides—offers a sleeping length of 2.40 meters, making it very comfortable even for tall people.

With openings on both sides and fans, the tent also provides excellent ventilation when needed.

The outer tent of the Rokua 2 is made of highly tear-resistant, 5-layer silicone-coated Nylon 6.6 ripstop fabric with a 20-denier thread count. The inner tent is made of lightweight, breathable nylon ripstop fabric, and the tent floor, made of PU-coated nylon with a 10,000 mm water column rating, provides optimal protection against moisture from below. As a result, the tent offers the necessary durability for a wide range of uses while maintaining a low overall weight. The tunnel tent can be set up quickly and easily, as the inner and outer tents are connected. However, when taking down the tent in the rain, the inner tent can be unhooked and stowed away dry. The next time you set up the tent, the outer tent is erected first, and then the dry inner tent is hooked back in.

Alaska 3.235 PU

The Alaska 3.235 PU three-person tent from Tatonka combines generous dimensions with durable materials. If you’re traveling with a lot of gear and prefer a long tent, the Alaska 3.235 PU is the perfect choice. With its steep walls, this tunnel tent offers optimal use of space.

This three-person tent features a spacious vestibule for gear, which can be accessed through the side or front entrance. The third entrance at the back of the tent also serves as a ventilation opening, for example in warm climates. And with an inner tent length of 2.35 meters, even tall people can stretch out comfortably.

The outer tent of the Alaska 3,235 PU is made of PU-coated polyester and has a water column rating of 8,000 mm. The seams are waterproof-sealed, and the tent fabric is tear-resistant and UV-resistant.

The inner tent is made of lightweight, breathable nylon fabric, and the tent floor, with a water column rating of 10,000 mm, provides reliable protection against moisture from below. Plus, the high-quality aluminum poles are lightweight and shatter-resistant.

Bushcraft puts a lot of strain on your back. Anyone spending several days in the woods living off the land carries tools, cooking gear, provisions, and weatherproof equipment – often heavy and bulky items. Heavy-duty backpacks are designed for this: They stabilize heavy loads, distribute the weight evenly across your back and hips, and remain easy to handle even off the beaten path.

The Great Escape travel backpack impressed the OUTDOOR magazine test panel across the board and was awarded the OUTSTANDING (“ÜBERRAGEND”) seal of approval.

In the February issue of OUTDOOR, the editorial team put twelve travel backpacks with a capacity of up to 89 liters through their paces to evaluate their performance in the field. Open Factory – Tatonka holds an open house every Friday

For 14 years, Tatonka has maintained transparency in its production process. Every Friday, the outdoor gear manufacturer opens the doors of its Mountech Co. Ltd. factory in Vietnam for factory tours.

For Tatonka, social responsibility means, above all, responsibility toward its employees. For this family-owned company, it makes no difference whether they are based at the headquarters in Dasing near Augsburg or in Vietnam, where Tatonka has been the only outdoor manufacturer to produce backpacks, tents, and other equipment entirely in-house for over 30 years—all while maintaining complete transparency. Through the Open Factory program, interested visitors can tour the SA8000-certified Mountech Co. Ltd. factory in Vietnam—at any time and while production is in full swing.

The Open Factory program was launched in 2011 to go a step further than the internationally recognized SA8000 social standard and provide anyone interested with transparent access to the manufacturing process. Anyone who wants to learn more about the social standards on site or simply wants to know how a backpack is made has the opportunity to take a detailed tour of the factory every Friday.

Mountech Co., Ltd. received certification under the SA8000 social standard, which attests to its social responsibility as an employer, in June 2011. The certificate is valid for three years, after which a follow-up audit is conducted. Compliance with the requirements is reviewed every six months. In June 2023, TÜV Rheinland conducted the most recent follow-up audit, which once again confirmed compliance with the current SA8000 standard for another three years.

The SA8000 social standard was established in 1987 by the nonprofit organization SAI (Social Accountability International, headquartered in New York). It enables companies with their own manufacturing operations to demonstrate social responsibility and requires compliance with the most comprehensive and far-reaching standards currently in place. These standards are based on national laws, the United Nations human rights conventions, and the labor standards of the ILO (International Labor Organization).

Through the Open Factory program, anyone can see the working conditions for themselves on site. Employees’ contracts clearly outline working hours, breaks, vacation time, overtime policies, meals, social security, occupational safety, and much more.

Mountech Co. Ltd. is managed and operated in Vietnam. The development department, administration, and distribution warehouse in Dasing, Bavaria, work closely with their colleagues at Mountech Co. Ltd., and mutual visits are a regular occurrence. Internally, Tatonka also always maintains an “Open Factory” policy.

Outdoor equipment manufacturer Tatonka produces 100% with solar power

Since December 2024, Tatonka has been covering 100% of the electricity requirements at its in-house production facility Mountech Co.Ltd. in Binh Dinh with solar power and even feeds surplus electricity into the national grid.

Tatonka focuses on personal responsibility. The outdoor manufacturer not only produces all of its goods itself, but also its energy.

After Tatonka had already commissioned a 550 kWp photovoltaic system at its production facility in Binh Dinh in August 2023, which covered around 65% of its electricity requirements, this was expanded by a further 450 kWp in the second half of 2024. A total of 1,612 solar panels (828 previously +784 new) now supply an average of 5,200 kilowatt hours of energy per day – more than enough to cover the entire electricity requirements of production and even produce surpluses that are fed into the national grid. Due to the consistent solar radiation in the country close to the equator, the system can be used throughout the year with almost constant efficiency. This means that around 1,518,400 kg of harmful CO² emissions can be reduced each year compared to fossil fuel generation.

Both the construction of the first section of the photovoltaic system and its expansion were completely self-financed without subsidies. “It’s an investment that pays off ecologically and ultimately also economically – that’s the way it has to be if you want to run a healthy business,” says Andreas Schechinger, company owner and CEO of Tatonka. “The decision to expand the plant was made very quickly after we realized that it was working smoothly. “Schechinger once again emphasizes the advantages of “in-house” production: investments are made at the point where improvements are immediately achieved, which can also be communicated transparently.

A 65 kWp photovoltaic system was installed at Tatonka’s headquarters in Dasing near Augsburg 16 years ago.Since January 2008, 384 solar panels have been feeding CO²-neutral electricity into the German power grid – 1.147 megawatt hours to date.

EDC Pack 30 BC

Our robust EDC Pack 30 BC daypack was specially developed for bushcraft fans. There is a 10 x 5 cm Velcro area on the front of the rucksack for attaching patches. The EDC Pack 30 BC is suitable for forest and wilderness tours as well as for everyday use (EDC means Everyday Carry).

The main compartment of the EDC Pack 30 BC can be pulled open completely to make loading easier. There are Velcro surfaces on the back and sides to which small pockets with hook and loop backing can be attached. This ensures that the inside of the rucksack is always clearly organized. We have developed the EDC organization set with four pockets and two hook-and-loop compression straps to fit this rucksack perfectly.

Thanks to the modular fastening system, the EDC Pack 30 BC can be equipped with additional pockets on the front and sides. The Tatonka Universal Pouches or pouches from other manufacturers with the MOLLE system can be used for this (MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment). And of course other equipment can also be attached here.

The hip belt of the backpack is equipped with a zippered pocket on one side and gear loops on the other. It can be removed and used separately as an equipment belt.

EDC Organisation Set

The EDC Organization Set is a practical bag and strap set for individual organization, for example in the Tatonka EDC Pack 30 BC.The EDC Organization Set consists of two padded storage pockets, two zippered mesh pockets and two compression straps. All parts can be attached to backpacks equipped with Velcro surfaces. The set is designed to fit the EDC Pack 30 BC perfectly.

New highlights for the 2024 season

New for the 2024 season is, for example, our Pyrox touring rucksack with our newly developed carrying system. We have also developed a specially equipped version of this rucksack for all bushcraft enthusiasts – and the matching small bags to go with it. Our hiking rucksacks in the Hike Pack line come in a fresh design and are supplemented by two women’s models. Further attractive innovations are also coming to the bag, accessories and stainless steel ranges. And we are adding two perfectly ventilated lightweight tents to our tent range. And, of course, we are also continuing to drive forward the ecological, sustainable conversion and expansion of our products: we will be increasing the number of GREEN-labeled and PFC/PFAS-free products again in 2024.

Backpacks for tourers

The name has remained the same – but we have equipped our Pyrox 45+10 / Pyrox 40+10 Women touring backpack with a completely newly developed, lightweight carrying system. The Frame Comfort Light system can be adjusted to a wide range of back lengths and is therefore also suitable for people over 1.80 m in height. The extensively equipped Pyrox models are PFC/PFAS-free.

We have designed the Pyrox 45+10 BC and Pyrox 40+10 Women BC models in a robust Cordura version with a modular fastening system on the front and Molle on the sides especially for bushcraft enthusiasts. Compact and casual everyday companions

The Cross Body Bag S, M, L shoulder bags impress with their trendy design and practical features. The bags are extremely hard-wearing thanks to the waterproof 3-layer X-Pac®RX 30 laminate. Waterproof equipment in further sizes and additional versions

Further sizes of our waterproof flat bags with roll-top closure and transparent viewing window will also be added in 2024. All WP bags are now IPX7 tested. The WP Stuffbag Valve with valve for compression is available in sizes 15, 25 and 48 liters. It is also IP64 tested, as are various pass-through bags. All WP products are PFC/PFAS-free.

Stainless steel pots 2.0: saving pasta!

We are expanding our stainless steel range with the Kettle II in three sizes. The lid with strainer function is used to drain the cooking water. The conically shaped Bowl 250 ml / 500 ml eating and cooking bowl can be stacked inside each other to save space thanks to the removable handle.

Lightweight tents for hot summers

The Kyrkja LT and Groenland 2 Vent LT offer excellent ventilation with an inner tent made of lightweight mosquito netting. The side walls of the two-man tent can also be rolled up completely. The ultra-light, siliconized flysheet material 20 den Nylon 6 Ripstop Si, mesh material for the inner tent and lightweight floor material ensure a low overall weight and small pack size.

Tatonka commissions 550 kWp photovoltaic system in Vietnam

Tatonka commissioned a 550 kWp photovoltaic system at its production facility in Binh Dinh in August 2023. The system with 828 solar panels supplies an average of 2300 kilowatt hours of energy per day.

Best Travel Buddy – everything on your back when traveling

The models in our Travel series are practical travel companions for trips lasting several days and can even make a sprint to the gate or platform. Those who undertake shorter trips, such as city breaks, usually travel light. A travel backpack often proves more practical than a suitcase, because it distributes the load comfortably on the back and allows for faster boarding and disembarking and, in the event of a delay, a sprint to the platform or gate. Many airlines accept travel backpacks up to a certain size as carry-on luggage, which saves costs and effort, especially for spontaneous low-budget trips.

With the Traveller Pack 25 and 35 and the Duffle Bag 45 and 65 we offer the ideal companions for trips of several days to one week. And not only for that. With its handy size and fashionable daypack look, the Traveller Pack can also be used as a practical daypack for everyday use. The Duffle Bag, on the other hand, can be folded up practically small when not in use and stowed in its own lid pocket.

If you are on the trip for a longer period of time, you will need more storage space. Here, either trolleys or large travel backpacks are used. But why not both? Our Duffle Roller offers with 105 or 140 liters enough space for the entire luggage, due to the built-in wheels the frameless bag can be pulled like a trolley and thanks to the stowable shoulder straps it can be carried like a backpack. All products from the Travel series are made of PFC-free material in an attractive melange look, which is water and dirt repellent, and now available in the new fiery color tango red.

Traveller Pack 25

The Tatonka Traveller Pack is not only extremely practical, but also a real eye-catcher with its daypack look. It is much too beautiful and versatile to use it only on vacation. It also cuts an excellent figure in everyday life or in the office.

The Traveller Pack 25 comes as a courier backpack with a roll top and with its 25 liter volume is the ideal size for short trips, but also as an office or university backpack. The shoulder straps of this top-loader can be unhooked with a handle and stowed in the back pocket, for example, to put it under the seat on the plane without resistance. The padded laptop compartment is accessible from the outside via a zipper, and the Traveller Pack 25 is also equipped with a side pocket and a flat, padded front pocket.

Traveller Pack 35

With its 35 liters of volume, the Tatonka Traveller Pack 35 offers enough storage space for multi-day trips or, for example, the weekly shopping in everyday life.

Its two main compartments with all-around zipper allow you to organize your luggage perfectly. The rear compartment is lined with hook-and-loop panels that allow for the attachment of small organizational pockets with hook-and-loop backing. The front main compartment has an organizer with slip pockets and a key holder, and the Traveller Pack 35 also has two flat zippered front pockets. The extra laptop compartment for a 17-inch laptop is accessible from the outside.

The backpack straps can be stowed in a flat slip-in pocket on the back so that nothing can get caught when placed in luggage compartments. As a clever additional option, the travel backpack offers a removable hip belt with a zippered pocket. This can be used for cell phone, wallet and IDs and worn on tour or sightseeing as a fanny pack or sling bag.

Duffle Bag 45 / 65

The Duffle Bag comes in two sizes – with 45 liters and 65 liters volume. This practical and flexible travel bag, which can also be worn on the back with its integrated backpack shoulder straps, is perfect for multi-day (45 l) to week-long trips (65 l). The shoulder straps can be stowed in the front pocket, and the entire bag fits in its own lid compartment when folded. Handy handles on the lid and side offer further carrying options.

The main compartment can be opened wide for packing via a wrap-around zipper with lockable zipper slider. In addition to mesh pockets for accessories, two compression straps keep luggage in place. The outer compression straps allow the whole bag to be tied down tightly.

Duffle Roller 105 / 140

The Duffle Roller also comes in two sizes. With 105 liters and 140 liters of volume, the roller bags offer enough storage space for several weeks of (long-distance) travel. In addition to several handles, a large zipper opening and a mesh pocket inside, the Duffle Roller is equipped with lockable zipper sliders. Another special feature – besides the large amount of space – is the possibility to store the frameless trolley in its own lid pocket when not in use. So it can be stored away in your own home to save space.

Discover the Tatonka highlights 2023

This year we again present numerous new products for camping, hiking and travel. Our hiking and trekking backpacks stand out with harmoniously coordinated color tones and are real eye-catchers on every tour. We are also expanding our outdoor and travel range with waterproof welded accessories. For all those who are on the road with a campervan, we offer two practical canopies. In addition, our stainless steel range receives one or two new additions.

Minimizing the ecological footprint remains a central task

In 2023, the ecologically sustainable conversion and expansion of our product collection remains a central task. This season, for example, all recycled materials are additionally PFC-free. In addition, the specification of various existing fabrics will also be changed accordingly, so that the Barrel series, for example, will now be offered PFC-free.

Hiking backpacks in attractive colors and modern design

The sporty Storm RECCO toploader brings a breath of fresh air to Tatonka’s hiking backpack collection with a revised design and finely coordinated tone-on-tone color scheme. It still scores with the X Vent Zero carrying system, which is rated as “top ventilated” in the market, and integrated RECCO emergency reflector. The new Storm RECCO comes as a women’s backpack in two sizes and as a unisex backpack in three sizes, and it has a PFC-free finish. The Hike Pack series with comfort-oriented Frame Vent carrying system is also presented in the harmonious color scheme. The backpacks feature the GREEN label as well as PFC-free finishes.

Welded travel accessories

Waterproof flat bags with roll closure or water-repellent zipper, each with transparent viewing window, are offered in two or three different sizes. The pouches have a PFC-free finish.

Tatonka complements its stainless steel range: the Hobo Burner, which can be dismantled flat, can be operated with any solid fuel and is therefore particularly suitable for bushcraft fans. The Pot Set for Gas Cartridge 450 + Burner is a space-saving cooking set for use with a gas stove. The tall cup with 1.5 liter volume holds a standard gas cartridge (11 cm diameter, 450 g) and a burner during transport, the lid closes snugly and can be used as an eating bowl can be used. Marto RECCO Hooded Jacket

Our windproof and highly water-repellent Marto RECCO Hooded Jacket is made of durable, breathable T-SoftShell Dry 3L Recycled (outer material 94% recycled polyester, 6% elastane) with PU membrane. The soft fleece interior enhances comfort and insulates against the cold.
Features include an adjustable hood and cuffs with Velcro closures. If necessary, the underarm zippers can be opened for ventilation. The jacket is available in a men’s and women’s version. The RECCO reflector on the hood allows rescue organizations to locate people during year-round missing persons searches in the mountains or in rough terrain.

Cesi Hooded Jacket

Our Cesi Hooded Jacket protects against wind and light drizzle, is breathable and follows your every move. Thanks to the slightly roughened inside, it is pleasantly warm and can also be used as a midlayer under a three-layer jacket. The Cesi has an adjustable hood, ergonomically shaped sleeves with thumb loops and two zippered pockets. It is available in men’s and women’s versions and also without a hood.

Lajus Hooded Jacket

Lightweight weather protection with the best freedom of movement for activities from spring to fall is offered by our softshell jacket Lajus Hooded Jacket. The elastic material made of T-SoftShell Light Recycled (94% polyamide recycled, 6% elastane) is almost windproof and therefore ideal for outdoor activities in mild weather.
However, the jacket is also suitable as a sporty everyday jacket. Thanks to small pack size, it can be perfectly stowed in the backpack. The jacket is available for men and women and also without hood in many colors.

Trekking Pants RECCO

Our Trekking Pants RECCO are robust and comfortable trekking and hiking pants made of tightly woven and lightly waxed T-ECO Polycotton W (65% recycled polyester, 35% organic cotton). Their elastic softshell inserts at the knees, crotch and buttocks ensure the best freedom of movement. The Cordura insert on the inner leg cuff protects against damage and abrasion. The pants have two slash pockets, two back pockets and two large pockets on the thighs for all important equipment.
The men‘s and women‘s versions are also available in long and short sizes in selected colors. The RECCO reflector also allows here the quick location in the mountains or impassable regions.

Skill 22 RECCO – Our lightweight hiking backpack for challenging day trips

Especially on challenging day hikes in the mountains, every gram of weight that weighs down the hiker during the ascent and descent counts. All the more pleasant when the backpack itself weighs next to nothing. At just 780 grams, our Skill 22 RECCO is a real featherweight – without sacrificing an intelligently ventilated back system and other extras like a hiking pole holder or hydration system preparation. Plus: The integrated RECCO® emergency reflector ensures safety on the mountain.

Whether ambitious summit tour or relaxed pleasure hike – the heavier the backpack, the longer the way. However, it does not go completely without luggage. This is where our Skill 22 RECCO comes into play. He weighs so little that really only the weight of its contents counts. With 22 liters, it offers enough storage space for all necessary things such as drinks, provisions, a light jacket, sunscreen and a first aid kit.

For an optimally ventilated back, we rely on our X Vent Zero carrying system for the Skill 22 RECCO. With this innovative carrying system, only the tightly tensioned mesh straps rest on the back and allow the air to ventilate in the space between them. This allows the moisture produced on strenuous tours to evaporate optimally, and the clothing is not sweated through. Traceability by Tatonka – Transparency creates trust

We are convinced that transparency is part of our social responsibility. That is why it is now possible to trace the entire manufacturing and transport route of our products!

On our new Traceability website, it is now possible to trace the path of all Tatonka products from the purchase of materials to production and shipping to the country of destination, using the serial/batch number. We show which materials come from which suppliers, when and how the product was sewn, and which transport routes and types of transport were used until the finished product reached its destination. The transport routes and modes, as well as other information, are clearly visualized on a world map after entering the serial/batch number. We also explain which standards our material suppliers meet within the supply chain.

Due to our own production, we have access to all information concerning the manufacturing process. From material purchasing to transport, we collect and manage all data ourselves and use it to make the supply chain for each Tatonka product clearly visible. The jackets and vests of our Lajus series are ideal for your outdoor activities at moderate temperatures and are also great as sporty everyday companions. The lightweight softshell material T-SoftShell Light Recycled is elastic, breathable and almost windproof, and it consists of 94% recycled polyamide and 6% elastane. The jackets and vests also feature a PFC-free DWR finish.

Softshell all-rounder for the whole year

Experienced outdoorsmen swear by the classic all-rounders, which can be worn solo or as a midlayer under a three-layer jacket. The jackets and vests in our Cesi series are made of robust, slightly elastic T-SoftShell 4 Recycled (91% recycled polyamide, 9% elastane) and are pleasantly warm thanks to the roughened inside. The material is also virtually windproof, breathable as well as drizzle-resistant. And of course, the jackets also have a PFC-free DWR finish.

Lightweight rain jackets to take with you wherever you go

The outer material of our lightweight, PFC-free rainwear and cycling rainwear is made of 100% recycled polyester. The jackets, pants and ponchos made of 2.5-layer material offer very good performance thanks to the waterproof and breathable PU membrane and score with small pack size, so you can always have them with you in your hiking backpack or bike bag.

Outdoor pants for all activities

Our range of pants covers almost all areas of outdoor activities – you will find travel and hiking pants suitable for everyday use as well as pants for mountain sports. We use two softshell qualities with recycled polyamide (T-SoftShell Light Recycled, T-SoftShell 4 Recycled) and the cotton blend T-Eco Poly Cotton W (65% recycled polyester, 35% organic cotton). Depending on where we’re going and how long the trip will last, the question arises: How much luggage do we need to take with us? Thanks to the backpack shoulder straps, the large bag can not only be pulled like a trolley, but also carried on the back. The shoulder straps can be quickly and easily stowed when not in use, so they won’t get in the way or damaged in the airplane cargo hold. A large opening into the main compartment makes packing easy, while compression straps secure luggage and keep the interior tidy. The zippers can be secured against theft with a lock. In its two main compartments, the luggage can be perfectly organized, especially since the rear compartment is lined with Velcro. They allow the attachment of small organizational pockets with hook and loop back. The extra laptop compartment for a 17-inch laptop is accessible from the outside.

The backpack straps can be stowed in a flat slip-in pocket on the back so that nothing can get caught when placed in luggage compartments. Flooding in central Vietnam: Tatonka supports damaged employees with 30,000 euro donation

At the end of November 2021, seasonal heavy rainfall occurred in central Vietnam. The Tatonka production facility Mountech Co. Ltd. was only slightly affected, but throughout the surrounding area, especially in Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces, about 60,000 houses were under up to two meters of water. Numerous residential buildings in the city of An Nhon, where many Mountech Co. Ltd. employees live, were also severely affected. Tatonka CEO and owner Andreas Schechinger spontaneously supported the company employees in need with a donation of 30,000 euros. The money was handed over to the affected employees during the company’s internal Christmas party.

In Binh Dinh Province, heavy rains always occur at the end of the rainy season (November/December), which in combination with the ocean tides always lead to natural flooding in the river delta.

In 2013 and 2016, when the spillways of the reservoirs built from 2007 onwards were additionally opened for hydropower plants in the hinterland, major man-made floods occurred for the first time. At the time, this also affected the Tatonka production facility in An Nhon, which caused significant damage twice and thus led to production losses. In 2018, work began on raising the factory buildings by 1.5 meters to provide more efficient protection against future flooding. Since 2020, the structural measures have been completed.

Warming wool for the winter: Our sustainable Stir ladies coats

Winter is here! We were also already happy about the first snow. With our warm, sustainable women’s coats from the Stir series, we provide the right clothing for winter walks and everyday life. A wool padding provides the necessary insulation against the cold, a recycled, PFC-free impregnated outer material keeps wind and weather out.

A walk in the snowy winter wonderland, skating on the lake or the everyday walk through the city: there are many reasons to go out into the fresh air even in winter. A warm coat like the Stir Ws Hooded Coat or the Stir Ws 3in1 Coat should not be missing – it keeps the icy cold away and also protects against moisture and wind.

Sustainable wool insulation and recycled outer material

To insulate well against the winter cold, the Stir women’s coats use sustainable padding made of sheep’s wool. The natural material is combined with polyactide, a fiber derived from corn. The padding is free of harmful substances, recyclable and biodegradable. While the wool provides insulation against cold, the outer material with waterproof and breathable membrane reliably protects against wind and weather. Both the outer material (100%), as well as the membrane (75%) and the lining (37%) are made entirely or proportionally from recycled polyester. The women’s coats also have a PFC-free finish – like our entire textile collection.

Stir Ws Hooded Coat: Attractive women’s winter coat made from environmentally friendly materials

With its slightly tailored cut, the Stir Ws Hooded Coat cuts a fine figure both in the city and on a winter walk in nature. Pleasant feel-good extras are the soft pocket lining and the soft chin guard. Small items for on the go can easily be stored in the pockets or in the inside pocket, a hood provides even better weather protection.

With these new daypacks, we are also underlining our commitment to increasingly using natural or recycled materials in the equipment sector. All products for which this is already the case are marked with the GREEN label – including the new daypacks.

The casual courier backpack City Rolltop is perfect as a university or office backpack thanks to its practical features. With a total volume of 27 liters, it offers enough space for all documents, and also has a padded laptop compartment and flat mesh pockets. For a clear packing, the main compartment can be opened completely by a vertical zipper on the side.

The sporty-urban City Hiker comes in a trendy retro look and leans visually on classic hiking backpacks. Thanks to a total of 20 liters of volume, shopping, sports gear or snacks for a day trip can easily find their place. In addition, the City Hiker is equipped with a zipper pocket on the front and side pockets, the lid includes a zipper compartment and closes with decorative aluminum hooks.

The City Stroller is a trendy backpack bag with stowable shoulder straps. It features an integrated, padded laptop compartment and two small zippered pockets – making it a practical yet environmentally conscious everyday companion. The shoulder straps can be stowed in an extra pocket on the back, making the City Stroller a universal hybrid of backpack and bag.

In terms of color, the three new products also set accents – they are available in light lighter green or in eye-catching grey laser. Those who prefer a simple design, on the other hand, will go for classic black. Our new city backpacks and our Shopper City Stroller are available in stores.

Let’s go into the mountain summer: With our two via ferrata backpacks Norix 32 and Norix 28

No matter whether the tour list includes a larger family hike, a small hut tour or an easy via ferrata: Our new Norix 32 is a perfect companion everywhere. For all female mountain sports fans, the Norix 28 Women comes with the same features, slightly less volume and shoulder straps that are tailored to the female anatomy.

Our new Norix 32 and Norix 28 Women are perfect for longer hikes and smaller overnight hut tours. If it should be a little more action-packed, the backpack with its contact back and thus force-fit is also used on the via ferrata.

The back system guarantees excellent load control, the weight is always close to the body – this is particularly useful for via ferrata or small scrambles. For a nevertheless pleasant air circulation provides the back padding with ventilation channel and air-permeable AirMesh cover. Also practical on via ferrata tours: the carabiner fixation on both shoulder straps. If passages must be mastered without belaying, the carabiners of the via ferrata set are neatly tidied here.

In addition, the Norix 32 / Norix 28 Women has a large access to the front compartment. Elastic side pockets, a lid compartment and gear loops on the front and lid provide ample stowage options for the remaining equipment. On the outside of the backpack, hiking poles can be securely fixed, a slip-in pocket for a hydration bladder and a tube passage are also available.

The Norix 32 is the men’s model; however, with the Norix 28 Women, the backpack is also available specifically for female hiking and mountain sports fans. It has the same features, the weight and size of the backpack are slightly reduced. The shoulder straps are adapted to the female anatomy for improved wearing comfort – they pass the chest on the side.

For young explorers: Our new children’s backpacks

Fresh, child-friendly design and the processing of recycled materials characterize our colorful children’s backpacks. New are the trendy courier backpack Rolltop Pack JR 14 and the daypack City Pack JR 12. Whether school trip, overnight stay with friends or way to the sports club: The two city backpacks accompany young discoverers in all their leisure activities.

The little ones feel much more “grown up” when they have their own things with them on trips with the family. That’s why a backpack of their own is a must at some point. It’s also the more comfortable and cooler choice for going to sports or to visit friends. For all these activities, our children’s backpacks are the ideal companions. Both the Rolltop Pack JR 14 and the City Pack JR 12 are equipped with a padded carrying system including chest and hip straps, which is gentle on children’s sensitive backs.

The Rolltop Pack JR 14 is a trendy messenger backpack for elementary school children with plenty of space in the main compartment, a side pocket for the water bottle and an extra zippered pocket for the wallet. So that the young explorers are always easy to see at dusk or in bad weather, the backpack is equipped with colored reflective stripes on the front and shoulder straps. Practical extra: the seat cushion stowable in the backpack for picnics at the lake or for a break on the wet meadow is included in the delivery.

The City Pack JR 12 is a practical all-round daypack for children aged six to ten. It has a padded back and ergonomically shaped shoulder straps and can be fixed firmly to the back with hip and chest straps. So he does not slip back and forth even when cycling. For good visibility in traffic provide here also colored reflective stripes on the front and shoulder straps. The kids daypack has two zippered front pockets and a side pocket. In total, it offers 12 liters of storage space. In addition, the City Pack JR 12 also comes with a seat cushion.

The new children’s backpacks are marked with the GREEN by Tatonka label. We introduced this label in 2020. It identifies products in which we process sustainable, environmentally friendly and resource-saving materials. We use recycled materials as well as materials made from renewable, biodegradable and recyclable raw materials. The selection is based on the state of development of technology in an ongoing process. As in our entire collection, only carefully tested materials are processed so that our products meet the demand for the best functionality and special durability.

Hike lightly and safely with the new Skill 22 Recco

Experience the lightness of hiking – with our new Skill 22 Recco. Our new hiking backpack scores with its minimal weight of only 780 grams. Nevertheless, it does not do without a well-ventilated back system and other extras such as a hiking pole holder or hydration system preparation. This makes this backpack the ideal companion on sporty day trips. The integrated Recco emergency reflector ensures extra safety.

The lighter the backpack, the more pleasant the hike! Especially on day hikes, it pays not to have quite so much weight on your back – this saves energy, is easy on the body and ensures more rest on the way.With the new Skill 22 Recco we present a particularly lightweight daypack for mountain hiking, which offers enough space for the most important things: a light rain jacket, a snack and a first aid kit should never be missing, after all. 780 grams weighs the “little brother” of the well-known Skill 30 Recco – and does not do without some useful features.

Our proven X Vent Zero carrying system ensures a well-ventilated back on the Skill 22 Recco. With this system we deliberately do without a mesh back, only two straps rest on the back. The backpack is fixed precisely to the back with the help of the padded, ventilated shoulder straps, the ventilated hip belt and the adjustable chest strap.

Even with its light weight, the Skill 22 Recco does not do without important, well thought-out extras: its hiking pole fixation is just as practical for sportier tours as the insertion compartment for a hydration bladder including fixation and outlet opening for the drinking tube. The lid compartment and the side pockets allow a sensible placement of the equipment and offer quick access to the most important things on the road. The Recco reflector attached to the backpack provides extra safety. It allows rescue organizations to quickly locate you by helicopter detector in an emergency. Tatonka Clothing Spring / Summer 2021

For the 2021 spring/summer season, Tatonka is expanding its range of functional outdoor clothing. The focus is on a new range of pants that covers almost all areas of use for outdoor activities. It is adequately supplemented by softshell jackets for different requirements as well as light rainwear and robust hardshells. Jackets and pants for demanding outdoor activities are also equipped with Recco reflectors.

Tatonka has been successful with urban outdoor fashion for many years. Attractive jackets and coats suitable for everyday use thus form the second focus of the collection. Here, Tatonka is increasingly focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly materials and marks corresponding styles with the GREEN label introduced in 2020.

Tatonka’s new pants program

Tatonka presents a range of pants that covers almost all areas for outdoor activities – from travel and hiking pants suitable for everyday use to pants for mountain sports. Materials, shapes and equipment details are tailored to the respective application, and different icons indicate the various areas of use. The models offered are Travel Pants, Travel Zip Off Pants, Backpacking Pants, Guide Pants Recco and Mountain Pants Recco. To ensure the best possible fit for as many users as possible, the pants for men and women are available in regular, long and short sizes. Softshells for different requirements

The jackets in the Lajus series made of T-SoftShell Light are designed for outdoor activities in spring and summer. The material is lightweight, breathable and virtually windproof, and also slightly water-repellent thanks to the PFC-free finish.

Cesi Hooded Jacket and Cesi Jacket made of robust, slightly elastic T-SoftShell 4 are classic, season-independent “all-rounders”. They offer pleasant warmth thanks to the roughened inside, and the material is also virtually windproof, breathable and “drizzle-proof”.

Our lightly waxed T- Eco Poly Cotton W is the ideal material for sporty everyday and travel wear. The durable and windproof material now comes completely sustainable with organic cotton and recycled polyester. Tatonka Hardware 2021 – The Highlights of the New Collection

An ultra-light hiking backpack, a travel line made of PFC-free material , feather-light travel accessories, new sustainable daypacks, kids’ backpacks in a fresh design and weight-optimized tents with comfort-plus: these products are the highlights of Tatonka’s 2021 collection.

Hiking Light

With the Skill 22 RECCO, we introduce a small hiking backpack made of ultra-light T-Dia Rip, which will be integrated into Tatonka’s Recco family. The toploader with X Vent Zero system features hydration system preparation, a hiking pole holder, a lid compartment and side pockets.

Smart Travel Products

The new line of travel bags from T-Travel Tex Melange scores with interesting looks, textile feel and PFC-free finish. The carry-on size Traveller Pack 35 offers two main compartments, extensive features and hook-and-loop inside for individual attachment of (hook-and-loop-based) pouches. The Duffle Bag and Duffle Roller feature backpack shoulder straps and stow flat in their own lid pocket. The travel bag and trolley are each available in two sizes.

Featherweight, compressible travel accessories gather in the SQZY series. Two folding backpacks and a tote bag can be packed down to the smallest size in the included pouch. In addition, a storage bag set in the ‚modular system‘ and packing bags in various shapes and sizes are available. The siliconized 30 den Polyamide material is PFC-free and washable.

Sustainable Variety

Three new backpacks complement our daypack range, which is characterized by the variety of size, color and pattern options and the use of sustainable materials. The new models are made of Kapok blended fabric (80% PES recycled, 20% Kapok). Webbing, buckles and zippers also contain proportionally recycled materials. The City Hiker borrows its look from classic hiking backpacks. The courier backpack City Rolltop offers a special feature, a so called side zipper that can be pulled open all the way to the bottom, and the backpack bag City Stroller is equipped with stowable shoulder straps.

Children’s Backpacks in a New Design

A fresh, child-friendly design and the proportionate processing of sustainable materials characterize our new children’s backpack range. All backpacks feature wide, colored reflective stripes on the front and on the shoulder straps, which blend harmoniously into the design and ensure good visibility at dusk. The Rolltop Pack JR 14 and City Pack JR 12 add two new models for elementary school children to the range.

Overnight With Added Comfort

Gargia 2/ 3 and Rokua 2/ 3 are the new additions to the Tatonka tent range. The lightweight tunnel tent models focus on useful comfort features that are not found elsewhere. Zippered access points on both narrow sides provide perfect ventilation and drying options, and an extra-long lounger length offers generous space even for tall people. Gargia has an apsis on one side, Rokua has apses on both sides. Among other things, the use of a new, lighter, Silicone-coated 20 den Polyamide material for the outer tent achieves an excellent level of overall weight, while still giving the tents an extremely wide range of uses.

Complementing this are three tarp options for minimalists: The single-person Tarp Wing 1 / Tarp Wing 2 and the multifunctional Tarp Wing 3 are also made of 20 den Polyamide.
