It goes without saying that a kids’ backpack should fit the child’s age and stature. That’s why Tatonka offers children’s backpacks in different sizes. A children’s backpack with a volume of 10 liters, such as our Husky Bag JR 10, is suitable for kindergarten children from around 4 years of age; it stows snacks, favourite toys and small finds. A children’s backpack with a volume of 12-15 liters, for example our Rolltop Pack JR 14, accompanies primary school children on school trips, to sports or to an overnight stay with grandma and grandpa. A children’s backpack for hiking, such as our Mani 20, has a volume of 20 liters and is equipped with a hip belt as well as a chest strap. It is suitable for children aged 10 and over.
However, a kids’ rucksack should never be packed too full, even if it has a larger volume. The following applies to children: the backpack should not weigh more than 10 percent of the child’s body weight. Especially on hikes with the family, otherwise mom or dad will end up carrying it.

The fabrics are waterproof thanks to a multiple polyurethane coating on the inside. They are also impregnated to be dirt and water repellent and the impregnation is PFC/PFAS-free.
