Generally speaking, a daypack is a lightweight and simple backpack without a frame that offers you enough space for your everyday items. In order to provide you with reliable and loyal service, it should be well-made and made from durable and robust materials. The design is more important than with other backpacks: an item that accompanies you throughout the day should look good on you.
As our daypacks are designed for a variety of everyday uses, they differ in terms of their size and packing volume. While smaller models with 10 to 15 liters only hold the most important items such as keys, wallet and cell phone as well as a jacket or snack, for example, a daypack with a volume of 30 liters is definitely suitable for larger excursions or activities. Many of our daypacks are cut in such a way that you can easily store A4 documents, which is why they are also ideal for the office or for studying.
Because they are designed for everyday use, daypacks should be able to do two things above all: be as practical as possible and look good at the same time. This is why design plays a much greater role in Tatonka daypacks than in classic outdoor rucksacks (such as hiking rucksacks or trekking rucksacks), where functionality and carrying comfort are the main focus.
In addition to appealing aesthetics, however, the main focus is on keeping things tidy. That’s why Tatonka daypacks are equipped with sorting options and organizer compartments for small items. Special laptop backpacks also have a padded laptop compartment.
If your daypack is also used for sporting activities, you should make sure that it is comfortable to carry. Ergonomically shaped and padded shoulder straps on our daypacks ensure a comfortable fit, while a chest strap secures the shoulder straps and keeps them in place. A hip belt or detachable waist belt can also be an advantage, as it secures the backpack firmly to your back.
If you are looking for a particularly lightweight daypack, a foldable daypack may also be an option. It is very small and is only used as an “additional backpack” when you really need it.
Even though a daypack is not a high-tech, high-end product, we have equipped our daypacks with comfortable carrying systems to prevent you from sweating unnecessarily. A padded back section and padded shoulder straps ensure comfort, while an air-permeable cover or ventilation channels guarantee pleasant air circulation to effectively wick away moisture.
Our daypacks are made from lightweight and durable polyester and polyamide fabrics that are waterproof thanks to a polyurethane coating on the inside. Some of the fabrics used are also partially recycled. All processed fabrics are impregnated to repel dirt and water; this impregnation is PFC/PFAS-free.
However, please note: although the backpack fabrics are waterproof, water can penetrate through the seams and zippers. If you want to protect your daypack and its contents from getting wet, you can find a rain cover in the right size in our backpack accessories.
