Touring backpacks are very versatile. They are suitable for weekend tours, hut hikes or alpine tours. They have a volume of approx. 35-50 liters, whereby the transition between a large touring rucksack and a small trekking rucksack is fluid. Touring backpacks generally have a narrow cut so that they do not hinder you in demanding terrain and restrict your freedom of movement as little as possible. This is why they also have a comparatively light and flexible carrying system.
Tatonka’s touring backpacks are equipped with the lightweight Frame Comfort carrying system, which you can adjust to your own back length to transfer part of the load from the shoulders to the pelvic area and thus ensure even weight distribution. The system offers a wide range of adjustment options, making it suitable for both short and long backs. The ergonomic back padding with the large ventilated area ensures rapid evaporation of perspiration moisture on strenuous tours, while the comfortable hip belt and padded shoulder straps, when correctly adjusted and tightened, bring the rucksack close to the body and ensure that it does not slip even on movement-intensive tours. The chest strap stabilizes the carrying system and improves freedom of movement, while the load control straps stabilize the backpack on the back. The carrying system of women’s touring backpacks is adapted to the female physique.
The Tatonka touring backpacks are all-rounders for multi-day tours in the mountains with extensive features. They are divided into main, base and lid compartments, with the main compartment also featuring front access for easy access to equipment. An elasticated front pocket, elasticated side pockets and zipped pockets on the hip belt stow items that you need to have to hand quickly. Equipment loops on the lid, a hiking pole or ice axe holder and hydration system preparation are tailored to the requirements of different tours.
Tatonka touring rucksacks are made from abrasion-resistant and robust materials that offer maximum protection even when in contact with ice or rock.
Tear-resistant polyester and polyamide fabrics are used, which are waterproof thanks to a multiple polyurethane coating on the inside of the fabric. All processed fabrics are impregnated to repel dirt and water; this impregnation is PFC/PFAS-free. Please note, however, that although the fabrics are waterproof, water can penetrate the seams of the backpack. For this reason, our touring rucksacks are also equipped with a rain cover.
