Are you looking for a backpack for your trekking tour in Scandinavia? Or are you a globetrotter planning an extended backpacking trip down under? Then you need a large-volume trekking backpack to accommodate all your equipment and luggage. A special trekking backpack for women offers you a particularly high level of carrying comfort.
A trekking backpack for women naturally has the same functional features as a trekking backpack for men (which we at Tatonka also refer to as a unisex backpack). The main difference lies in the construction of the carrying system. In a trekking backpack for women, it is adapted to the female anatomy in order to optimize carrying comfort – after all, you have a lot of weight on your back.
Women are usually smaller and therefore often have a shorter back and feminine curves. This is why trekking backpacks for women have a shorter back length. In addition, the shoulder straps are narrower and have a more S-shaped curve so that they pass the female chest and do not rub against the arms. The chest strap can be adjusted in height so that you can fix it above the chest.
All trekking backpacks for women have adjustable carrying systems so that you can position the padded hip belt in the middle of the hip bone. This is the only way to shift some of the load from your shoulders to your pelvis and relieve the strain on your back
On our guide page, we explain how to adjust your trekking backpack to your back length.
Tatonka offers trekking backpacks for women in various sizes and with different carrying systems designed for different “payloads”.
For example, our trekking classic Yukon Women with a volume of 50 or 60 liters is equipped with the V2 carrying system*, which is designed for a weight of up to 25. The Yukon backpacks are suitable for trekking tours lasting several days to several weeks with full equipment including tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag and food. They are also a very good choice as backpacking rucksacks.
Our heavy-duty Yukon Women X1 model with a generous 65 liter volume and X1 carrying system* can be loaded with significantly more than 25 kilograms, and we recommend this backpack for trips that require more equipment, such as winter trekking.
However, if you are looking for a backpack with a volume of 40 liters because you want to go on a hut tour, for example, you will find what you are looking for in our touring backpacks for women.
*We have compiled detailed information about the back systems of our backpacks for you.
Our trekking backpacks for women are divided into a lid compartment, main compartment and base compartment, plus they have external pockets and gear loops to store your equipment in a practical way. Compression straps are used to secure your luggage in the backpack, and a large front opening into the main compartment makes packing easier and provides quick access to your equipment on tour. Important for backpackers: the backpack has zipper sliders into which you can attach a lock to protect your luggage from theft.
Our rucksacks are made from tear-resistant polyester and polyamide fabrics with multiple polyurethane coatings on the inside of the fabrics. All processed fabrics are impregnated to be dirt and water repellent; this impregnation is PFC/PFAS-free. Please note, however, that although the fabrics are waterproof, water can penetrate the seams of the backpack. For this reason, Tatonka trekking backpacks are equipped with a rain cover.
Our trekking backpacks for women are produced fairly in our own SA8000-certified production facilities. You can also see the high social standards for yourself through our Open Factory program: every Friday, you can visit our Mountech Co. Ltd. factory in Ho Chi Minh City while production is ongoing.
Our supply chain is also transparent: with our online tool Traceability by Tatonka, you can track the path of your purchased Tatonka backpack from material purchase to delivery.
