Traceability by Tatonka means that you can trace the path of your Tatonka product from the purchase of the materials to the production and shipping to the destination country. We show you how many logistical steps and which routes of the material, within the supply chain, were necessary until your product arrived in the respective country where you bought it. You can also see what standards our material suppliers meet.
As we run our own manufacturing facility, we have all the information we need about the manufacturing process. From material purchasing to transport, we collect and manage all data ourselves and use it to make the supply chain for every Tatonka product clearly visible.
After entering the serial/batch number of your product on our Traceability Website, – which you will find on the sewn-in label – a world map with all delivery routes appears, and detailed information on material suppliers and transport companies is listed.
In times of globalization it is becoming more and more difficult to assess the conditions under which products are manufactured and transported. We create trust through transparency. That’s why we have been regularly opening our own SA8000-certified manufacturing facility in Vietnam to visitors since 2011. So that everyone can see the fair and socially responsible working conditions for themselves.
Supply chain disclosure is the next step in making the manufacturing of Tatonka products as transparent as possible. The transport of products is a significant factor in resource consumption and CO² emissions. Through our own manufacturing, we are able to optimize transport routes and save resources and CO² in addition to costs.
We manufacture our products in our own, SA8000-certified plants, at two locations. We control and optimize all processes – from material purchasing to complete manufacturing to product delivery. This enables us to keep costs, energy consumption and CO² emissions as low as possible.
The Production Planning Software (PPS), which we have developed ourselves since 1995, provides essential support for all processes and is perfectly tailored to all the needs of our own production as well as the import of materials and the export of finished products.
We collect the information on all processes ourselves and compile it in a large database. The data is continuously updated as part of the manufacturing processes and is the basis for our successful quality management.
We decide from which suppliers we purchase the materials for our products. We have been working with many of our upstream suppliers for decades and are continuously developing more sustainable and environmentally friendly products together with them. Our suppliers have their own certifications for their operations.
We also manage our suppliers’ ongoing quality audits by production and delivery batch in our database. This allows us to ensure that only materials of assured quality enter production.
As early as the purchasing stage, deliveries from various material manufacturers are consolidated and delivered together in a container to our central material warehouse at our production site. This saves transport costs and emissions right from the time of delivery.
For many different products in our range, we use the same materials from our central warehouse at our production site in Vietnam. This means low transportation costs and efficient use of materials for a large variety of products.
The stocking of two manufacturing facilities for all Tatonka products from one central warehouse as well as a central export of all manufactured products in one container (no matter if backpack, tent, clothing or stainless steel tableware) avoid and/or reduce many transport routes and thus lower resource consumption and CO² emissions.
