        Tents & Tarps

Tatonka tents & tarps: the perfect outdoor accommodation

Spending the night in the open air and being at one with nature – for many outdoor enthusiasts and active holidaymakers, this is the epitome of freedom. Whether trekking alone, hiking with the family, on extended bike tours or on a paddling trip with friends – sleeping in a tent or under a tarp underlines the charm and sense of adventure of an outdoor vacation. At Tatonka you will find a large selection of tents and tarps for outdoor activities and camping fun.

Tunnel tents from Tatonka – reliable companions on every tour

Tunnel tents are supported by at least two parallel poles. These must be tensioned lengthways before the tent takes its shape. With their comparatively steep walls, tunnel tents offer very good use of space, or in other words: they are relatively light in relation to their size. The inner and outer tents are linked together, which means they can be pitched and taken down quickly. If you pitch a tunnel tent with the narrow side facing the wind, it is also very wind-stable.

Tatonka offers 1-person tents, 2-person tents, 3-person tents, 4-person tents and family tents with standing height in its range. There are also two tent lines that differ in terms of material and features: the Allround line for trekking and camping and the Expert line for more extreme outdoor tours. Our special mosquito tents are made entirely of mesh material and provide an insect-protected place to sleep in hot regions.

What you should consider before buying a tent

Before you decide on a tent, you should think about when and what you want to use it for. The size of your tent will depend on how many people you want to sleep in it. Then you should ask yourself whether the tent should offer a small or comfortable amount of space. Of course, this depends on how much equipment you want to store in it.

If you want to stow a tent in your rucksack on trekking tours or take it with you on a cycling or paddling tour, the tent should also be particularly light and have a small pack size. It is also an advantage if it is easy and uncomplicated to pitch and take down.

Tent lines from Tatonka for different uses

        Tents for trekking & camping

The tents in Tatonka’s Allround line are very robust and are ideal for trekking, tours of all kinds and camping. From one-man tents to tents with extra-long sleeping areas to standing-height family tents, there is a large selection to choose from. The models for one to three people can also be stowed in a trekking rucksack.

Tents for outdoor & extreme tours

The one, two or three-man tents in the Expert/Expert Light (LT) line are particularly tear-resistant, extremely durable and extremely lightweight. The Expert LT tents also have an exceptionally good amount of space in relation to their weight. We recommend these tents if you camp frequently and in extreme weather conditions and/or if you need an ultralight tent.

        Equipment for tent comfort

All Tatonka outdoor tents have well thought-out features to make your stay comfortable. For example, the entrances are cut wide so that you can enter the tent easily, the inner tent entrances have separately closable mosquito windows, and washing lines and pockets in the inner tent keep things tidy. Cleverly designed ventilators ensure a pleasant indoor climate and reduce condensation. Small or large vestibules serve as storage space for luggage and equipment.

        Tarps for trekking and camping

Tarps can be an alternative to a tent on trekking and other tours: they save a lot of rucksack weight and still offer rudimentary protection from the sun, rain and wind. At the campsite, they extend the comfort zone by serving as sun and rain protection in front of the tent. They can also be used as sun protection in your own garden. Tarps can be set up in no time with tarp poles.

Tatonka has tarps in various sizes and made of different materials in its range – from one-man tarps for wilderness trips to large sun canopies for the van.

High-tech material for tents and tarps from Tatonka

The high-quality tent materials we use are waterproof, breathable for the inner tents, always hard-wearing and lightweight.

For the outer tents in our Allround line, we use quadruple PU-coated polyester with a water column of 8,000 mm on the inside. The material is colorfast and has good UV resistance.

For the outer tents of our Expert and Expert Light tents, we use silicone-coated nylon 6.6 ripstop fabric with a fiber thickness of 30 or 20 denier. This waterproof material is very light, extremely tear-resistant and extremely durable.

The waterproof groundsheet of our tents is made of PU-coated nylon with a water column of 10,000 mm. This ensures that no water can penetrate, even under pressure from lying in the tent.

The inner tents are made of air-permeable nylon material (particularly light in the Expert tents), and high-quality bug beater mesh with over 1,000 holes/inch² is used for the entrances.

Tent poles are made of lightweight and break-resistant aluminum alloys, in our Expert tents in Ultra Light design.

Tatonka’s waterproof tarps are made of robust, PU-coated polyester material or very light, silicone-coated nylon RipStop fabric. Our awnings are made from cotton blend fabric.
