        Tunnel Tents

Tunnel tents from Tatonka: space miracles for touring and camping

Whether it’s a trekking tour, cycling trip or camping vacation with the whole family – at Tatonka you will find a wide range of tunnel tents in various sizes. Tunnel tents offer you plenty of space and are quick and easy to pitch.

Tunnel tents – spacious, wind-stable and easy to pitch

A tunnel tent is a tent construction that is supported by at least two parallel poles. These are tensioned lengthways and only then does the tent take on its shape. A tunnel tent has comparatively steep walls along its entire length and therefore offers very good use of space. If you pitch a tunnel tent with the narrow side facing the wind, it is very wind-stable.

In a tunnel tent, the inner and outer tents are coupled together and can be pitched together quickly and easily with a little practice. The inner tent can also be unbuttoned. This is practical if you need to take the tent down on tour in bad weather. You can then unhook the dry inner tent and store it separately. The next time you pitch the tent, first pitch the outer tent and then hang up the dry inner tent.

Tunnel tents – from small to large

At Tatonka you will find tunnel tents for 1-person, 2-person, 3-person, 4-person and standing-height family tents in tunnel tent construction. Depending on the size and model, they have one or two inner tents and one or more vestibules that can be used to store luggage and equipment.

Two tent lines made from different materials

Tatonka offers two tent lines, each available in different tent sizes. The tent lines differ in material*, especially in the material of the flysheet, and in the features.

Tunnel tents for trekking and camping

The tunnel tents in our Allround line are very robust and are ideal for camping in normal climatic conditions. The largest selection is available here, from one-man tents to standing-height family tents. The smaller models, such as the Grönland 2, can also be stowed in a trekking rucksack. The outer tents in the Allround line are made from quadruple PU-coated polyester with a water column of 8,000 mm on the inside. The material is color-fast and has good UV resistance.

        Tunnel tents for extreme conditions

The tents in the Expert and Expert LT line, such as the Kyrkja LT, the Gargia 2 or the Polar 3, are particularly tear-resistant, extremely durable and extremely light. We recommend them to people who camp frequently, even in extreme weather conditions, and/or who need a particularly lightweight tent. For the outer tents in this line, we use silicone-coated nylon 6.6 ripstop fabric with a fiber thickness of 30 or 20 denier. This waterproof material is very light, extremely tear-resistant and extremely durable.

*A detailed description of all materials used can be found in our tent manual.
